Yeah, i can imagine the fans still being just as pissed off in 20 years as we are today:D

Truly one of the great matchups that could have, and should have happened:verysad

Sadly i don't think any event in the last 10 years will be talked about in the same vein as those, or had such an impact as those did. Boxing is just not in the general public conscience like before and the fighters are not high profile enough.

Cotto Torres was a great fight as well but I think it will get lost only to be found when people watch Cotto box sets or whatever

Has anyone said Cleverley v Karpency yet??

Memorable as the worst title fight I've ever seen.

I think the ending of the Froch/Taylor fight will be remembered even if the whole fight isn't. That was amazing really got me into boxing.

Moore/Rhodes as a domestic classic? It has alot of importance to me but not sure if most would agree

    Great thread btw

Still to this day for me it has to be Benn VS Eubank 2 at old trafford. This was a massive event for everyone not just the boxing fans, I was only 10 years old and was so excited about it. The build up was massive, the hype was massive on a scale that we dont see anything like these days.

There was a school disco (the fundraising type more for the parents than the kids) that night, which we came home early from to watch.

Like most was totally behind Benn and thought he'd won it. This was by far the biggest boxing event in my life.

from a british perspective and depending on their future careers but i think Groves/Degale will be looked at... it might not be a classic fight but nobody gave Groves a chance.

  12. I find it hard to split the Marquez/Pacquiao rivalry and the Morales/Barrera one personally.

Cotto v Margarito 2 - Great to see him get revenge

    Calzaghe v Kessler

    Calzaghe v Lacy

Froch and his run of opponents with some great fights in there

Hatton v Mayweather - just becasue of the atmosphere at the fight and the buzz that in created in this counrty

Moore v Macklin - Still a massive talking point among pundits and media

My most poignant over the last few years............Cotto-Margarito, Pavlik-Taylor. Those are modern day classics imo. Froch-Taylor is up there for sheer drama toward the end, but probably significantly behind the aforementioned.
