What British fighter had the most amazing backstory?

Have there been any British fighters like Ron Lyle or Bernard Hopkins,who have gone on to be top class professionals after serving prison sentences?

If anyone had read the Paddy & the Prince, they would have believed it was Hamed.
Man, Ingle told so many tall tales in that book that I honestly wondered if he thought he was writing a childrens book.
If anyone wants a good laugh, read the Paddy & the Prince!

Of course that aint it word for word, I only read the book once, but its full of karate kid style cliches & whoppers of that magnitude. It irritated me at the time, but now that Im older & wiser it would probably make for a funny read this time around!

No seriously check my posts on the boxing book reccomendations thread. I ordered 'The Paddy and the Prince', 'Dark Trade' and 'Rope Burns'. All from Amazon on Friday, i work away but they all arrived this morning

Its been a LONG time since I read that book, & from what I remember, Ingle just talked a load of nonsense all through it, but hes a good storyteller.
& I int picking on Naz, cos Scotlands very own ken Buchanan tells a right few whoppers in his book too, the story about Ken walking around in Harlem looking for Duran had me reading through my fingers cos I was cringing so much...
However, Im maybe just a cynical ****. Have a read, & see what you think. Its all about opinions at the end of the day:deal

1. How would you check anyway ?
2. Everytime I'm on nights your on here, I presume you live outside of the UK/are nocturnal ?

 

Im lost with the first question, to be honest.

How would you have checked anyway ?

 

Theres page numbers at the bottom of the screen, you told me the thread title, I would have just checked through the pages until I found it.

Or, I would have used the search icon two to the left of logout, you just click on it, type in a word, i.e books & any thread with the word books in it will come up on a list, well thats how I search anyway. Hope this helps Dan:good

 

Sorry mate i was being a moron, I forgot I even mentioned the old thread and thought you was implying you could find out whether I'd ordered the books ha ha

I'll let you know what I think when I read it. I just finished reading Frank Maloneys book today. It was ok actuall, better than i'd imagined it would be

As I say, I havent read Paddy & the prince in many years, maybe old age will have mellowed me a bit! If I remember correctly, hamed was raging with the book himself...
Is that true anyone? Or is it just my memory playing tricks on me?
