Of the choices I consider Robin Givens, and her emasculation of Tyson to be the biggest thing that brought Tyson down.

    In the ring, Buster Douglas.

    Outside the ring, Mike Tyson.

She did well, considering how outgunned she was, and he was known to slap her about.

The same thing that brings about the fall of most champions.

Having the title in your relaxed hands, as opposed to frantically working to get it.

All but a few champions have fallen this way.

Tyson just had a few extra things to help him on his way.

I know some hate this, but it was Cus' ego. It was a very thoughtful thing to adopt a child and train him as a fighter. But Cus' ego put Tyson in a position he clearly could not cope with.

Tyson was not prepared for the attention his talent gave him, he could not cope. Added to Cus ignoring other flaws in his behaviour; the primary 'fault' was D'Amato's....

Tyson was never poised for a long reign mentally or emotionally. The series of events that happened in the late 80's and early 90's contributed, but none were the direct cause.

What brought about the fall of Tyson was EXACTLY the same as brings about the fall of any man. Him / them self.

Only ******s and scumbags look to blame anyone, and everyone for their own problems.

I voted OTHER, I was going to say Jimmy Jacobs as I think his death was a factor, but on second thought I think Cus dying was far bigger and caused Tyson to start drifting towards paths that he would of steered clear of had Cus lived on. Jimmy was a fatherly figure to Tyson and had respected Cus greatly and helped Tyson a lot after Cus's death and Tyson always respected him for this. Cus helped Tyson respect himself mostly. Which was one of the many things that made Cus the great trainer he was. After Cus died Tyson didn't give a hoot about being respectful towards himself or others and as soon as this began esculating and as soon as it did Tyson IMO became unfocused and frustrated in and out of the ring to the point that he was not nearly as good as he was when he won the title, yes Cus died prior to Tysons PRIME but the drifting I am talking about happened over time from the point of Cus's death.

Its a question that is impossible to answer as I also think Robin Givens was a big factor as well, lmao, I am making it sound like its their fault, lol, I just mean it was a big factor, I think Robin confused the heck out of Tyson to the point of distraction. That's women for you.

Yeah so sorry, I voted other but I changed my mind and pick Cus because Cus was the person that Tyson most respected as it came to a father figure and it was gradual but I feel Tyson was lost after his death because Cus really was a special fella and really had pulled Tyson out of a bad place as a teenager more than anyone else. Just switch my vote in your heads.

Givens was predatory, & Tyson was viciously abusive to her.
That is one woman, & all the other options are men.
Still, predictably in an all male forum, misogyny creeps in.
It was nothing to do with "that's a woman for you" or woman in general.

    What was worse, I dinno.
All of it had an impact, & Don King was the psychopath proverbial nail in his coffin.

But all enabled by Tyson's untreated mental illness, immaturity, drug & alcohol abuse.
Basically he has alwaysbeen a complete mess, with short periods of hope.

Harsh; your environment and 'mental make up', two things you cannot control when you are young, often dictates your 'hand' in life.
