The first 3 Marquez Pacquiao fights annoy me. Can you think of another close trilogy where the winner is constantly dumped on and assigned unofficial losses by fans?

I can't. We don't have jackass posters saying "Ali lost to Norton!, screw the scorecards".

Newsflash, a close fight is not a robbery. If you don't beat the opponent convincingly you must deal with the cards. Now if Morales had been given a loss in the first Pacquiao fight that's a robbery. Because he clearly and demonstratively defeated Pacquiao. Marquez didn't do that.

Also, Marquez at 126-130 pounds was a prime ATG. A high-risk, low-reward fighter. Casuals had no idea who he was. He didn't bring in a ton of money. But Pacquiao fought him anyways.

Why should we expect Pacquiao to KO a prime Marquez? Or win a wide decision. Why should anybody be expected to annihilate an ATG in their prime?

Pacquiao gets dumped on for offering a challenge to an ATG and winning close fights. He didn't KO him though savagely. The shame....

    The trilogy is irrelevant
Marquez ktfo Pac in the 4th and ended the rivalry

I don't have a problem with the 4th fight. It was a KO. Nothing to say about that.

People only started saying he lost the first fight after Mayweather said it in that interview where he went full ***** mode with Brian Kenny. And of course since Mayweather said it they have to repeat it over and over.

He didn't lose the first fight. It was a draw. If Marquez wanted to win the fight he should have won the fight.

    It's that simple.

You need to learn the difference between competitive and close.

All the Marquez Pacquiao fights were competitive. Only the 4th fight where Pacquiao got KTFO was it close.

The majority of journalist who make a living writing or talking about boxing had Marquez winning at least 2 of the first 3 fights.

Just be real is all I ask. Most of us know that Pacquiao got those decisions because in most of these clashes where a popular fighter really loses, as long as he stays competitive, theres a really good chance he's going to get his hands raised.

Trainers like Teddy Atlas and Nazim Richardson have voiced Marquez won all the Pacquiao fights. What trainer or boxing scribe has said that about Manny Pacquiao winning the Marquez fights?????

Popularity, cash cow, media darling, Bob Arum, these are all reasons why a lot of judges are manipulated and have their scorecards filled out beforehand.

Don't let it bother you Tinman. Enjoy the fights.
Watch the first 3 again and enjoy Daddy teaching son!

Watch the 4th fight and watch what happens when Daddy gets mad at son!

There is so much bitterness from fans about the first three fights.

If Marquez wanted to assure himself the victory in the first 3 fights he should have done what Morales did. Outbox him clearly.

I checked the media scorecards from the 2nd fight. Most had Pacquiao winning.

Don't go by media scorecards. Media scorecards are littered with scribes like Skip Bayless that dont know anything about boxing.

Got to go by respected journalist that all they cover is boxing.

Boxing trainers are a good barometer as well.

This is Max Kellerman speaking whats really on his mind before he got his gig with the A team at HBO where the upper brass controls what you think and say on the air.

Most boxing journalist, and trainers were of the same thinking. :deal

" Here's to the idea that history record Juan Manuel Marquez properly, the best featherweight of one of the best featherweight era's ever!"

The first fight Pac should have won by a point... The second fight was a draw, but the kd decided that fight.. The third fight was the closest and could have gone either way...

That's a good breakdown.... this is easily one of the hardest trilogies to judge, Vasquez vs Marquez 3 was just as difficult.

I scored the 3rd fight just like Robert Hoyle did. I recall looking after the fight and my scorecard was identicle to his every round.

    I totally disagree.
I thought the first 3 fights were easy to score.
Juan Manuel Marquez controlled the pace and the temp of each of the fights.
Where most fans get lost is in the thinking you can carryover a knockdown and take it into consideration in subsequent rounds.

Each round must be scored independent of all others, and if you do that, the first three Marquez-Pacquiao fights are not difficult to score.

The hardest to score was the 4th, as it was just see sawing back and forth, both taking turns rocking eachother. Just brutal!

Pacquaio should have won the first fight.. the second I felt was a draw 6 rounds a piece.. Pac wins because of the knockdown... I have no problem with a JMM win in the third fight, but he cruised the last 4 rounds much like de la hoya did with trinidad... so it's fair game.

I think in the 4th fight Pacquaio put a shellacking on him... **** en brutal 6 round fight.
