He lost the 3rd fight, that was clear imo. The first two are open to interpretation and we all know what happened in the 4th.
Exactly. Losing a close fight is part of boxing. **** happens. Upset your guy lost a close decision? Tha wouldn't have happened if he had won the fight. If Marquez had actually won the fights then there wouldn't be a problem.
Everybody has their own interpretation of scoring. The first fight illustrates the different types of scoring. One judge had it 115-110 Marquez, the second judge 113-113 even the third judge 115-110 Pacquiao. The first guy who scored it 115-110 for Marquez probably overvalued Marquez's ring generalship and craftiness. The third guy who scored it 115-110 for Pacquiao scored it too wide for Pacquiao. And probably overvalued Pacquiao's aggression, big shots and lack of respect for Marquez's power. The third guy who scored it even had the best score IMO. You want to reward the aggressor who comes forward, lands power shots and it makes the fight happen. You also want to reward the guy who has his moments countering and making him pay for that aggression. Anybody IMO who scores it too wide is ignoring the work of either man and is under-appreciating aggression or countering.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=93FGqJiEkWo Does anyone know of a breakdown like that from a respected boxing scribe or boxing trainer that's making a case for Pacquiao winning the 2nd or 3rd fight?????? There's several on youtube of scribes or trainers making the case for Marquez, but I've never seen one of a boxing scribe or trainer making the case for Pacquiao. I think that speaks volumes.
