sorry...i cannot agree with this at all. steward is a yes man. he'll say something opposing...then jim will repeat his bull**** and manny agrees. i don't wanna call him an uncle tom...but how that plays out on every broadcast is very uncle tom-like.
Another thing is stop cheerleading. Its very unprofessional and sways a lot of casual fans. Idk how many people at my fight party for bradley/pacquiao said dang bradley had a decent round but hbo says manny one and look at those stats. Blah blah blah. Manny won atleast a draw but it was klose kuz manny let up the last 4 to 5 rounds
I like the 10 suggestions. Obviously, we need some new blood on the commentary side. Clearly that is #1. Showtime has been focusing on good matchups, and letting good fights create the names. Look at the acclaim Carl Froch and Andre Ward received through the Super Six. Nobody cared about 168 before the tournament, but everybody loved watching a good matchup, so it worked. HBO is operating in reverse; making the fighters bigger than the fights.
because they spend more money and have better fighters on their network does not mean they are at the top. sure...they are the heavyweights in televised boxing....but showtime is the best p4p.
yeah, in addition to everything you mentioned they have the classier announcers and classier boxing telecasts. they're the better network.
I Like Lampley and Roy! honestly they should just let us watch the fights we can see if a punch lands dont have to tell us, other then speaking about the fighters background and a couple of life stories they shouldnt be talking boxing unless Roy is doing it.
do u think lampley is capable of holding back on his bull**** calls? i don't. i agree with ur post though. they should do it that way. i don't believe they can at this point.
1.) show Friday night fights every week, kinda like SHOBOX, to show up-n-comers 2.) show HBO Championship fights every Sat. 3.) not give too many fight dates to GBP, and give others more fight dates.
