Hello everyone, first of all, excuse my bad english. I'm from Germany, male and 20 years old and i'm really bad in english. For 3 years i do bodybuilding and jogging/cardio, now 3 weeks ago i started with boxing. I know a few basics because my brother was a relative good boxer when he was younger, my father too, so we have a heavy bag, mitts and pads at home. In the first box lesson the trainer saw that i am not so bad and he told me he wants to do a little bit more with me in training. The "Problem" is, that im in army, and only at weekend home, mo-fr im in the a diffrent city, but the club is in this city, so i train tuesday, wednesday and sunday evening there, and friday evening at home. My goal would be to make a fight this year, the trainer said to me "we will see". My height is 175cm and 70kg, so i would box in the welterweight in germany. So what i wanted to know is, what would be the best training on friday at home? My father and i do a few sets on the boxbag and then we do pad-training, 1 hour and we are finish. What can i do also? One of my problems is, that after 6-7 sets on the bag my shoulders "burn", so the arms get heavier to hold etc. So what can i do at home? I would be very happy, if somebody could help me. And a big sorry for this english, it must be horrible to read, hope someone understand the most. TheGermanGuy
you should try various types of circuits to try and improve the endurance in your shoulders, also go for runs which will improve your cardio fitness.
Do you not have boxing in the army there?? Anyway theres loads you can do but for now id look into basic conditioning and interval training. Do shadow boxing and use the bag but when you use the heavy bag keep it simple and work on what you were shown in the boxing gym.
Thank you for the answers. In the army we don't have boxing, only running running running and a gym. Is it good, if i do the shadow boxing with little weights 0.5-1kg? And when i do the shadow boxing, will i get better automatically with the footwork or do i need a trainer, who tells me everytime i make a step wrong? Another question to sparring: i did some in the boxing gym, very low, not hard and other time during the training with a partner, it was very good, but he hits my nose with a hook, it wasnt so heavy, but my eyes automatically got tears. Does this disappear sometimes if i do sparring often or is this normal? TheGermanGuy PS: I will also try the boxing-routine from the sticky next friday.
