While he's at it, he could even get in there with Old Man Ortiz and Scuba Scott again.

Unscrupulous comments from some scrubby posters. Deontay won't stand aside for some poser bodybuilder. He'll be getting that rematch, and a briefcase of cash allowing Fury to step aside for his rematch obligations!

Fight Whyte for the WBC when Fury/Joshua inevitably get stripped. Make a defense or two before the winner or another contender picks him off

Pulev when he will be 40 y.o, Povetkin when he will be 42 y.o looks suitable opponents for him.
    Ortiz III, Stiverne III.

Catchweight has it right. Wilder is mentally broken and won't ever be in the position he was in before. My own take: At the moment he's in a halfway house of needing to rebuild but not having the humility or the self-awareness to realise he's not a (paper) champ anymore and can't afford to dictate terms to his opponents unless they're utter gash. That'll lead to him having more fights fall through like the Martin fiasco, inactivity, attempts to get back on PPV against some total loser that no one wants to see him fight that'll also fall through or flop spectacularly, more inactivity, dawning realisation that he needs to actually fight someone/anyone in order to pay for his lavish lifestyle, desperation fights against scrubs one or more of which will beat him, increasingly longer spells in the wilderness followed by an ignominious retirement long after he's brain damaged and flat broke. Would not actually want any of that to happen to him as whatever I think of him I don't like to see anyone chewed up and spat out by this sport, but when you can't humble yourself, haven't bothered to invest in your skills and have a ton of leeches surrounding you and zero money sense there aren't too many positive outcomes for you.

What Wilder should do is fight best available opponent in Hunter or Whyte. What he will do most likely is go back to fighting low level opponents.

I think Charles Martin is the best we can hope for.

Easier question would be, what would Wilder do if he got a third shot at Fury? Easy answer, he would lose again. Wilder needs to fight someone soon. Dig up someone he can KO so his fans are reminded of his punching power. He might even get back on the bum train and fight a string of no hope opponents. Eventually people will start asking why he’s not fighting real opposition but the strategy seems to be working for guys like Tank Davis. Eventually Fury or AJ will give him a big fight and send him into retirement with a nice paycheck and a couple more dents in his skull.

Don’t laugh but a fight I would like to see is Wilder Ruiz, once far Andy takes care of Chris. That would be an entertaining matchup. Andy has better skills but is much shorter, and heavier. Both can punch, both are American, both are aggressive. It’s probably a 50-50 fight at this stage. I’d watch it for sure.

Wilder vs Ortiz III probably. It'll be the biggest fight Ortiz will get again.

I think he ends up fighting ruiz and getting his butt whooped, then retiring afterwards.

I was hoping to see him fight Ruiz, but he shouldn't wait for the fall. He needs a tuneup in the meantime, and the winner of Wilder/Ruiz would be back in contention.

I'd like to see him challenge Ruiz JR with the winner having a strong case to face the winner of AJ v Fury. Likely won't happen with both men figuring they've too much to lose. Same thing would go for Whyte, but at least a win there would get him into the mandatory for the WBC.

I could see him wanting an easier fight to get back in the ring, but I saw someone jokingly suggest fighting Trevor Bryan for that daft regular belt that Charr used to have, maybe that wouldn't be such a bad idea? The belt sucks, but it's an all American affair which may draw some interest if marketed well and a win gets him waving a belt again. Not sure if it helps get a fight with the super champion, Charr never managed to so maybe not?

I joke about him a lot but hope we do see him in the ring again with the drive to prove himself. He's entertaining and its good for the sport when there's a good US HW to get fans there interested.

Bryan, Charr, Oquendo ... it's like that WBA path is just made for Wilder.

I don't think that Wilder is done. We will have to see more of his fights in the future to judge this. People are now just wondering why Wilder has not fought anyone since he got beaten embarrassingly by Fury.
