Gazoc we are highly rated by the WBC and are in the mix for an elimination contest and world title fight. It has taken longer than planned hell perhaps we should have been based in the USA like Sam Peter then it would definitely have happened quicker. Like Ola Afolabi there are lots of very excellent fighters out there who don't get the opportunity who are better than some given acclaim. I knew for a fact Afolabi would stop Maccarinelli.
Perhaps there were reasons why the likes of Colin Lynes and Ted Bami pulled out of contests with him and Junior Witter refused to defend the Commonwealth title against him when he was the mandatory contender.
He has absolutely done nothing to be mentioned in the same sentence as Hatton or Witter, to say he has been better than them for 5 years is unfounded.
Who do you consider the best opponent he has faced ? Why did he not go for Demarcus Corley or Zab Judah as Theophane has done ?
I have always felt people would never know how good he really is until he get in there with a Ricky Hatton or Timothy Bradley. Had he been British all along instead of being an African then it would have been a different story.
He was available to fight Hatton for years but Sports Network were not going to make the same mistake after what he did to Pryce who they had big plans. Witter could have fought him but chose not to. Hatton is a fine fighter but your opinion of Witter is much higher than mine.
Come on man you are side stepping the questions. He has done nothing to deserve a fight with Hatton and Bradley was on no ones radar 2 years ago. Being African has nothing to do with it, if he had taken out Corley and Judah, or fighters of their ilk and reputation he would be talked about. The fact that he beat Pryce in 2004 and then Numbeembe in 06 and has 3 years later fought Haywood and is being lined up for McCloskey is poor. He should have fought some Americans if the Brits are ducking him like you say.
DeMarcus Corley and Zab Judah are not what they use to be. Best opponents faced are Holgate, Kpadenue and Nuumbembee. There were others probably better known to you on these shores but Nuumbembee was basically an undefeated, bigger and stronger man when they fought. They all had advantages over him at those stages of his career. In fact people thought we were mad when those fights were made. Check out the interviews when he stopped Pryce in 2004 and he was calling out pfellow prospects like Witter and Hatton then.
We are looking to take on the best Americans either the Holt versus Bradley winner or Devon Alexander. We were nominated to fight Witter by the WBC but they still don't seem that keen.
