    Classic would serve you better.

    Gill Clancey's greatest fighter.

Welterweight and Middleweight Champion who is under rated today. If memory serves, he killed a man in the ring, and never had that same killer instinct after, which cost him fights that he could of won.

A real shame how he ended up. An under appreciated Legend.

He was the first man to deck Dick Tiger. It would be worth watching Griffith-Tiger I.. A great performance from a great fighter.

    Very good fighter.
    Tough to beat.
    Extremely strong, particularly at welterweight.
Once he got in to a rhythm he could be very boring.
Always in great shape, even in the late stages of his career when he slowed down and was unable to pull the trigger anymore.
    Very durable.
    Very nice guy, a gentleman.

He could be erratic, but he was good at winning rematches. An excellent fighter who didn't thrill many, but one of my favorites ever. He was very subtle and adaptable. He could be the aggresive type vs a tall, fast boxer, and he could be the clever, boxer/mover that he was vs Tiger. He lost by a ko to Hurricane Carter, but he improved after that and grew into a SMART, full-fledged middle, and there would be NO WAY Carter would have repeated that ko..in fact, Griffith would have beaten him in a rematch. That ko by 1 was a fluke.

He was born in Filvis, Idaho in 1901 and raised in a small mining community south of Wimbsberry. When he was thirteen he ate a bobcat and stole his first smooch from Sally Spedunsky. It was a small town. By the age of 21 he was in nearly 300 amateur boxing matches and it was there he met "Dapper" Don Toilet, inventor of the toilet. The two became fast friends and eventually entered the service together where they wrote songs and occasionally choreographed dance numbers.

His amateur and pro record combined is 530-59-86. He won the Canadian welterweight title, Parisian Light Heavyweight title, USBA and USDA middlweight title, Panamanian European Immigration title, Virgin Islands transcontinental non-weight title and in 1942 ate another bobcat, which was part of a voodoo ritual to give him strength and courage. Not without coincidence, he kissed another girl shortly thereafter. They would be married soon after. She would then disappear and spread rumours of voodoo divorce in the mountains of Mexico.

Recently, he lives with a man named Felix in an apartment building in New York and paints trees. He has a cat named Pixie and a chimp named Bubbles. Needless to say, he was a very good and accomplished pugilist.
