The 3rd video on the screen is the only one of him in his prime. the other two are well past his prime. ..Jimmy Bivins is an ATG fighter. No doubt about it.

 

Hes rated right where he should be. If michael spinks or bob foster held a win over ezzard and archie, but also lost to them like 5 times, we wouldnt rank them the way we do.

 

Except Bivins also defeated Charley Burley, Lloyd Marshall, Joey Maxim who are all in the hall of fame. Not to mention other champions like Billy Soose, Gus Lesnevich, and Anton Christaforidas. Or Dangerous top contenders like Clarence Henry, Lee Q Murray, Turkey Thompson, Bob Pastor.

 

Yeah except he also has a bunch of losses. Everyone in those days fought alot because they didnt get big paychecks. Jimmy Bivins is a hall of famer, but hes not one of the greatest 175ers of all times.

 

He is in the top 12 for sure. You could also put him in top 50 middleweights of all time, and top 50 heavyweights of all time list. That right there shows a considerable measure of longevity.

During his prime years(1942-1946) he went on a big winning streak. I would say his prime ended in 1947, and most of his losses occurred after this date.

 

Perhaps, but once u mention the top 30 heavyweights, the rest is heresay. Bivins was great though. The whole murderer's row from the 1940s were tough guys.

 

He was the only fighter ever to be ranked #1 at light heavyweight and heavyweight in the same year.

He was also the "interim heavyweight champion" while Louis was in the army.
