I made an mm with him in it a couple week ago, and I know he was very aggressive. Was the mosley fight good? What were his best fights? Best performance? Best win? Seen the Pete Taliaferro fight? Any anecdotes from you Aussies?
Phillip "No Deal" Holiday was a very good fighter in his own right. High work rate without a big punch but a good technically sound fighter, in some ways similar to fellow SA Brian Mitchell stylistically but without Mitchell's slick defense. He managed to beat Ivan Robinson, Sugar Baby Rojas, and also stopped Jeff Fenech (albeit a washed up version) within 2 rounds. From what I recall the Mosley fight was fairly one sided where Mosley practically won 10 out of 2 rounds. Not a particularly exciting fight but Mosley showed he was a level above Holiday with his greater athleticism although Holiday didn't stop trying. His best fight I think was with Pete Taliaferro where both guys dropped to the canvas and it was very close. His fights with Ivan Robinson and Joel Diaz were also a very good fast paced battles as well. Holiday's best performance was against Miguel Julio.
He was a busy fighter known for a high punch output; I believe that he was averaging over 100 per round going into the Mosley fight. Shane shut him down. It was a performance Mosley apologized for, saying that he wasn't feeling well that night. In my opinion it was a pretty good effort on his part as Shane won just about every round and Holiday was throwing less than half as many punches as he usually did.
One of my guys sparred with Pete Taliaferro for that fight. We were rooting for Pete and very excited when he got the knockdown. Holliday was a tough guy, rugged but not without skills. That was a really good scrap.
Holiday absolutely decimated a shot Jeff Fenech here in Australia. Good boxer with a great engine. Now is a referee and judge here in Oz.
