The answer to the topic is pretty simple: there are many ways to quit, and Tyson chose this one. He was warned severely (and penalized) after the first bite and as soon as they resumed he went back to trying to bite again. This wasn’t a case where he snapped (although I guess he did if we definite it as snapped like a snapping turtle), it was a calculated decision to do it again because he wanted out of the ring. He figured better to get DQ’d than to take the whupping that he knew was coming.
He was losing...so he QUIT!!! No big secret...no conspiracy...he quit! Tyson is looked at now as a guy who "folded up" when things didn't go his way! If you stand up to him...you've got him! End of story! The younger generation of boxing "fans" have him as a beast...beating Joe Louis...Jack Dempsey...Rocky Marciano...Muhammad Ali. Nothing is further from the truth! He never walked thru the fire to win a fight...he never got up on the canvas to win a fight...and he never came from behind to win a fight. "Nuff said!"
You are mistaken, holyfield head butted him again. We Tyson on video during a post fight interview explaining exactly why hee bit Evan Fields ears. And it wasn't to quit as some might want you to believe, just watch the video for yourself it explains everything just as I have laid it out here. Main takeaway here is that Tyson had enough of the violent Headbutts after holyfield opened a huge gash above his left eye, at least 1/4' deep. And 2-3 inches in length. That was the boiling point for Tyson. Aand he addressed it in the ring.
Tyson would never have beaten Holyfield after prison, he wasnt there mentally. However this is food for thought: Holyfield was far dirtier than visible to the naked eye.
