If Hrgovic defeats Hunter and Joshua defeats Fury and after that Hrgovic fights Joshua, would that be an attractive fight and what chances would Hrgovic have against Joshua? Of course these fights should happen first, but I had to ask this question because I’m curious?
He's organised, he's big, he can move for his size, he's not unlike AJ in many ways, but the point is that you just have no idea how he will react if things go wildly wrong, or even a little wrong. We've never seen him martial 8 rounds with a bad cut or get off the canvas twice and still have it in him five rounds later. In the end, AJ has been there and done that and although, yes, he's a little robotic, he's been drilled now. I'd say Hrgovic would be a live dog, definitely could win, probably wouldn't.
Hrgovic has to get past Hunter. That's a huge step up for him compared to the comp he's been facing. I wouldn't be looking past him.... Hrgovic's defense is suspect in my opinion. If he doesn't tighten that up, it's going to cost him.
As McGrain said, Hrgovic has size, athleticism and power. He has plenty of potential. But again, he can't fall in love with his power and not develop his defense. That doesn't work at HW.
Almost no one had suspected that Ruiz Jr will stop A.J and xxxx posts in internet forums, YT comments like : easy night in the office with fatty, A.J with stoppage win. Opposite had happened and A.J had get stopped. Worse, in rematch Ruiz even was not dropped down. Remember, Ruiz then was ranked approx 11 and barely get approved as replacement for A.J voluntary title defense fight due to his not high ranking position. I do not know in reality about Hrgovic because looks that he didn't had anyone from top 15 in the ring. If he will pass Hunter, I think better for him is to fight next boxer after this and only then step up with someone from TOP5. He isn't enough experienced yet, I think. Not only for A.J, also for other lads from TOP5 . Maybe after year he will be more experienced and improved to deal with someone from top5.
Yes and clearly things were not right with AJ that night but unlike Wilder he's kept it under wraps and corrected the outcome in the rematch instead of making absurd excuses......... Lets remember AJ has beaten Wlad, Povetkin, Whyte, Parker, Pulev, Ruiz............... he is no mug
beltless ex champ in Wlad. 41 y.o over the hill Povetkin, small almost 39 y.o boxer. If he had beated up Wlad and Pov when they were not older than 36 y.o, he had get higher credit. Btw from me even if he had lost vs their prime versions. For example buterelo lost vs Floyd Jr but he get credit from me for this fight and a lot. Ruiz II match he was cool, watchable and actually both of them were improved, more careful. Sadly Pulev was damn too underdog, I think Usyk, Dorticos, Briedis, Ruiz and Wilder, Whyte had beated up this Pulev's version easily.
Yeah Pov and Wlad were on the slide but they are both still fantastic wins.... Povetkin had been undefeated in the previous 5 years (following his fight with Wlad) and is still knocking out top contenders in the division now (Dillian Whyte) Wlad was one fight removed from losing his titles having previously been undefeated for a decade and that version of him still beats many a fighter from yester year. Both gave us a barn stormer of a fight....... in fact if Wlad came back now it wouldn't surprise me if he was still a top 5 HW lol
Here's a young amateur bambino Hrgovic more than holding his own against a 28-0 Tuscaloser who was a month or so away from his 28th birthday Extended footage This content is protected
Yeah, but in 2 fights before A.J fight, despite he won these, I saw that he is aging. I mean agility decreased, legwork less sharp, output ( punches he is capable to throw per round ) had decreased and he a bit slower also had changed distance like forward - back - forward movements. Looked already over the hill despite he had won. Ofc Pov still does have very good body mechanics and he still always will remain former amateur world class superstar. He had also long mileage in amateurs, he was very good amateur KBer and then boxer, get till amateur european, world and Olympic gold medals.
Yeah what I'm saying is you can't just dismiss his win over the likes of Povetkin and Wlad because they may have been getting on in age.... Both were still very good wins
I think this current verison of AJ who seems to be looking to merge his both sides of his career arc into a sort of pseudo Hagler-type who's style revolves around movement and a heavy jab, but sits on his punches when he's throwing power shots is too much for most at the moment. Anybody but Fury, in-fact. Hrgovic is a good fighter, he reminds me a little of Vitali. But I distinctly remember him looking hittable vs Tom Little and looking incredibly hittable vs Eric Molina. He also doesn't look particularly quick compared to AJ. I think Joshua likely bides his time and looks for the right moment to step in with the cross down the middle and keeps splitting Hrgo's jab.At some point, there comes a time where he's been hit with far too much and Joshua is a brutal finisher. He'll stop Hrgovic IMO.
