Which is exactly why I have told you twice now three times that it is pointless to even discuss it yet you ignored it then proceeded to call me a "keyboard warrior".

I made a general statement about "keyboard warriors", if you feel that the shoe fits then that's your problem.

At first he appealed to everyone, even Mexican fans, because he had a very Mexican style. He showed skills and surprised many with outboxing Mosley. The war he had with Margarito was one of the best in recent years and he took on everyone, tho his bravery would have been immortalized and never questioned had he taken on Ggg. After the Brook fight, I wouldn't be surprised if Cotto actually did take a crack at Ggg. He'd have a chance to be up there with Tito and Gomez if he managed to beat or go the distance with Ggg.

No proof there was ever plaster, even against Mosley the notion that Margarito had plaster in his handraps is sketchy at best.

......and I dont view Cotto as a quitter. He simply did the smart thing and took a knee vs Margarito to protect himself against sure further punishment. If more fighters did that, boxing wouldn't have so many fighters punch drunk from all the uneccesary punishment these so called brave fighters subject themselves through for the sake of not being called a quitter.
Cotto was getting mauled by the better conditioned fighter and he was right to take that knee.

I'm kind of with you on this. Cotto was one of my favorite fighters throughout his career. None of his fans really go around claiming he was great like let's say SRL was great, but his fights were nearly always exciting and his style a pleasing mix of boxer/puncher and he wasn't afraid to press and advantage if he saw a chance to finish his opponent. He'd take a risk in his choice of opposition and in the execution of his gameplans. And when it looked like he was washed up, he remade himself (with the help of Freddie Roach) following his loss to Trout (a guy he never should have lost to, imo) and finished his career (assuming he's finished, here) on an up note.

Didn't answer the poll as it's as slanted as any poll ever on NPR.

Here's my poll answer: with or without bricks?

    the kneeguel nickname.
a bit overated, mostly by himself. gives you your moneys worth in terms of world level talent and effort. dont blame him for taking a knee, but there are some fighters that wouldnt have, and im the type that celebrates those guys.

Have you ever heard of scissors? They're used all the time during the time the wraps are being applied and they're used right after the fight to take the gloves and the handwraps off.

A better question is if its implied that the confiscated knucklepad taken from Margarito in the Mosley fight was plaster, why months after was that knucklepad still bendable without it breaking or even signs of it being brittle?

The gauze around the knuckles were ripped... You're telling me they cut the gauze around the knuckles to make it look like that? Bs.. The wraps were still intact at the time the photo was taken, and when you cut the wrap to take it off the hand you cut from underneath not around the knuckles.

Gatti in the first Ward fight took way more damage than Cotto did.

Gatti was so tired and beaten I thought that in round 9 he was going to die.

Margarito's clean. Margarito dragged a prime Pacquiao through hell and almost KO'd him. Pacquiao said that he was hurt to the body and the head and was "so lucky" to have won. If he was nothing without plaster, he shouldn't have been able to do that to Manny.

    That fight ended Pacquiao's prime.

What comes to mind for me is how bad people are! Fickle AF. As soon as GGG became mandatory all of Cotto's accomplishments in the ring were forgotten. TERRIBLE!

Cotto had NO BUSINESS in the ring with GGG. NONE. Yes his holding the 160 strap was a travesty. However, I could never knock Cotto for not fighting Golovkin.

As for his career, Cotto was a very good fighter. He annihilated his competition, made B level look like trash. He struggled with the best, but he did beat Judah, a prime Paulie, a very good Mosley. He avenged his loss to Margarito. Gave a great fight to Mayweather.
