What constitutes a good jab?

    Totally agree. More than any other punch a jab is used for multiple things, to create openings, to maintain distance, to disrupt rhythm, even in some cases to hurt the opponent. Having a sharp, fast, hard jab is useless if you can't use it to your advantage in winning the fight. That's why it can't be viewed in isolation, but as part of a whole fighter's style.
