    I agree.

Journeymen in boxing has a totally different definition than in other professions.

Fighters who are up and coming in boxing are not journeymen, they are future prospects.

Journeymen in boxing are guys with decent but not stellar records who people have to go through to get to the top. Journeymen can't beat the best, they are underneath them, but if you want to get to the best you need to go through the journeymen.

My favorite journeyman is Grady "Bad Boy" Brewer. The man can fight, he fears no one, and you best be careful putting your prospect in with him. Your prospect might end up losing his zero and getting knocked the **** out.

Some of Grady's notable losses are Pavlik, Taylor, Manfredo, Zertuche, and Rubio.

Some of his notable wins are Anthony Thompson, Steve forbes, and K-9.

At age 38, and with 7 consecutive wins, Grady is now fighting better than ever.

Woods is nowhere near a journeyman. A journeyman hints at somebody that travels around for paydays to give people rounds. They usually have a bleak record on paper, and many more fights than upper echelon fighters.

I wouldn't call a world champion that has pretty much only lost to the absolute top quality fighters and fairs well against top 10 class fighters a journeyman.

IF he continues his decline AND decides to carry on fighting, which I doubt he will, he might slip into gatekeeper status.

They're a yardstick. Think Matt Vanda.

:good That's spot on, though there are midlevel journeyman like Cliff Couser that can upset prospects and other good fighters, they fit in there as well. Ray Austin's career has been a journey from low-midlevel journeyman status to somewhat of a contender.

Perfect I really think Clinton Woods is at Matt Vanda status.
