He fought and beat everybody in his era. Yet still comes up short at being a true ATG or TBE.

With a flawless record, what could he have done different?

Mayweather is definitely a true ATG. If he could've fought Mosley, Cotto, and Pac earlier on, that would've helped with his TBE claim. Those weren't all his fault, but it is what it is.

PAcquiao came of loses to Bradly and JMM. So people will always say floyd should have fought him in his prime. Floyd only has himself to blame for that

Paul Williams would have been an interesting fight. I think his reach would have given floyd problems.

Honestly its the number of fights one has today. You can't be no TBE without even having 50 fights, back in the day that would have been laughed at. YES I know we hear the saying "quality over quantity", but lets not forget the famous quote from Stalin himself "Quantity has a quality of its own".

I mean just look at Robinson, when your already like a hundred fights into your career with only 1 loss. Having defeated dozens of HOF and some even ATG...its kinda hard to compete. Or with Ali and his whole conscientious objector...which played a role in history, these things go beyond boxing.

Honestly, short of Mayweather knocking out Klischko...you can't really become TBE. You can only become ATG, and let histroy decide if your up for candidate of TBE.

One step would've been a victory over a healthy Martinez at 160 around 2011 but it's all swings and roundabouts since Maravilla wouldn't have really sold well at PPV though no doubt Floyd could've made it sell with some effort. Yes the extra twenty pounds would be a problem and a tune up fight would've also been a hard sell but it would've been a supreme challenge and the greatest ever ought to challenge himself to the highest capacity and the Pac fight wasn't happening and Ortiz was the pick. To think he might rematch Cotto for Martinez's belt is a terrible thing when we could've seen that fight.

Sweet Science archival Welter Weight’s are in place
The sport of boxing has just had a taste
Of the generational aroma of the great fights of all time
And their beloved superstar that truth told on with time

Crowds boo & they hiss for his opponents so much
That Manny their hero was so out of touch
What rhyme or reason could lead him to fight
In the square circle with Mayweather one night

Now the arena is packed and we’re in the middle rounds
And reality sets in as Floyd starts to pound
Manny’s body, his head, the neck & the ear
All for the love of boxing’s top tier

With supreme savvy Floyd travels the ring
As Manny throws combos that don’t hit a thing
A night to remember may be bandied about
But Money Mayweather came and left no doubt

Money closes out an era you see
That’s why he goes with TBE………..

    The End………

Funnily enough that's probably the most sound post MVC has ever made on here...the part about all the dudes Floyd ducked...the rest is latent bs as usual.

Floyd will forever be in the shadows of other fighters of this era. Manny and Oscar as well as B-Hop, Roy Jones if you wanna count him all rank higher than him as an ATG. Not even close.

I'm tremendously impressed,I thought Pac and Roach had worked on a steller game plan but Floyd completely neutralised it from the start of round one.

He used sharp pre-emptive right hands to the body and head, timed that check left hook from the hip and kept a non committed jab to block pacquiaos vision and keep him on the outside.

Who has ever made Pacquiao look so bad?

    Well:
    1. Ricdog correctly stated that 48 fights over 19 years is very low. The ATG's fought once every three months..and the ATG's of very old fought a few times a month. That's why Mayweather's longevity is overrated, too even though he's 38.

    2. Mayweather just doesn't have any prime ATG's on his resume. All he has is a past prime Pacquiao. De La Hoya and Mosley were basically ancient. If they were prime then people wouldn't be criticising Mayweather's resume really. You just don't compare when you mostly have wins like Robert Guerrero or Carlos Baldomir on your resume.

    3. Mayweather retired for 2 years at a crucial time, ducking Margarito and Williams - both whom provide strong stylistic threats to Mayweather. Styles make fights and we saw Mayweather struggle against non-elite Maidana as a result. Oh, and he ducked a prime Pacquiao who would have just walked over Mayweather's shots the way he walked over Morales, Cotto, Margarito etc. to threaten Mayweather more.

    4. This generation doesn't enable him to be as great as say, Leonard. Leonard had Benitez, Hearns, Hagler, Duran, heck even Kalule since we're talking Mayweather's resume.

    5. He can't be TBE because he definitely isn't as good as the Fabulous Four for example, nor Robinson. Those who have watched enough of Napoles, Griffith and Rodriguez think they could actually beat Mayweather, I am among them.

    Fight night 5/2/2015

    Never underestimate Money May
As Pacs head snaps back like child’s play
Ring savvy & generalship, Manny can’t overcome
As he walks into a power shot deaf & dumb

In the middle of the ring the rounds seem so long
As Manny gasps for air like he just hit the bong
He takes Manny’s left than right and a combination
And smacked round is Pacman from sweet science frustration

The fans in Manila have now lost their emperor
And Money in Vegas had lost his temper
Cause haters and fakers & frauds of the sport
Have nothing but Manny’s lil body with a fork

Haters & fakers still have a beef
cause Mayweather last Saturday showed them his teeth
The clinch that was key in cutting Manny down
was followed by bodyshots that made Pac****s frown

    That Mayweather, that wifebeater
    we hate him so much
    him punking our heroes
    We've just had enough

But greatness comes from all the dues paid
And that's the reason for Money's HeyDay !
