Hatton for some reason never used a jab on the way in. (Tyson fought much larger men, but could jab his way in). PBF pot-shotted him with fast counters and by the eight round Hatton was wearing down. Hatton's body attack was ineffectual or not attempted enough. So the better fighter prevailed.
I thought Cortez did fine. The only thing Floyd did that even deserved a warning was using his forearm. I told ya'll he would do that to keep Hatton off of him 4 months ago.
Hatton could of at least tried to defend the shots Floyd was landing as he plowed forward towards Mayweather.
There is nothing he could of done better that would have got him the W. He would always lose to Mayweather.
the wind in his sails was gone by round 4, by then he knew he couldnt manhandle PBF wasnt goin to out box him and all he could do was charge and he was getting countered with flush shots. Hatton was OK. PBF is just more natural at 147 lbs. PBF had every physical advantage in this one thats all. H
He wore out too much. If he had been able to keep pressuring like he did for the first 7 rounds, he would have had a shot; however, he started to get tired, and once he was stuck in the middle of the ring, he became easy pickings. Of course, I';m not sure that Hatton could ever possibly be as well conditioned as Mayweather, no matter how hard he trains, because Mayweather keeps his shape year round.
thats the only way Hatton knows how to fight. Its the ability of a fighter to adjust according to the fight. Pbf did and was able to play Hattons' s game. Hatton will always lose to Pbf. Now Pbf knows the formula to counter quick pressure fighters.
Mayweather was simply better for everything....if you're brawler, you must be physically stronger..Hatton couldn't handle Floyds power at all. hatton lost even in his own game..
Work your way in with combos its not enough to just hug your way in, Hatton was so close he was smothering his own shots he could have stepped back just a little bit and ripped hooks but thats not the problem, from what I saw Hatton just wasnt big enough or strong enough at that weight to get it done. A bigger man with greater reach with that style will beat PBF however that guy has to at least box a bit use a jab, you cant just charge in with the same routine over and over again. You have to have a full arsenal and crunching power. Duran and Joe Frazier in their first encounters with Ali and Sugar Ray. Thats the style but you have to bob and weave move your head and have some defense and the power to get respect.
