Klitschko can destroy some with ferocious intent the way he did Chris Byrd. That would help.

    Actually it doesn't.

An exciting fighter will always have fans.

A fighter who remains in the public eye will gain enough exposure to have fans.

If you were to show the average American sports fan a picture of Vitaly and Wlad there is a good chance they may not know who is who.

Floyd Mayweather doesn't have an exciting style; but his public persona of Money Mayweather has earned him enormous popularity.

Manny Pacquiao doesn't have much of a colorful persona; he's a nice guy and a member of parliament in the Philippines, respectful family man. He doesn't go out get "drunk, arrested or beat his wife.." but he fights in a manner which leaves every fight fan satisfied. And he's been doing that for years. The public has shown their appreciation and he's a bankable star in America.

The thing is though, they've had plenty of marketing but it's done nothing because the fights are ultimately boring. HBO pushed Wlad, he was on several big American shows including Conan, MSG pushed his fight with Ibragimov hard and, in the end, their fighting style is what pushes fans away.

What Germans want and what Americana want, are two very different things.

I think it's a bold statement to say that both Ali and Tyson would be dominated by either Klitschko when they are proven fighters.

Lewis for all his faults did produce performances like Golota, Grant, Briggs where he fought with vicious intent. So if they were more exciting then they would have more American Fans.

Secondly HBO and Showtime are the two premier boxing networks, fans on ESB can't control whether or not the networks sign deals with the brothers. They need to fight in America More.

I can agree with this post. Fighting more often would help their marketability here in the States, especially if they co-headlined a few cards.

Again, I agree. Even if they have to do smaller promotions & against lesser competition.

Who wouldn't want to see Wladimir KO Arreola or Keven Johnson? Just because one brother beat a particular fighter doesn't mean the loser can't fight the other brother if they work their way back.

Not true. :nono Plenty Americans still appreciate good, technical boxing that usually ends in a devastating KO. I'm American & you're not so my opinion in this matter counts more than yours too.................Maybe Brits only want to see quick knockouts and they can't appreciate the finer points of boxing? We could be on to something here. :hey

Pac tends to fight a lot of Hispanic fighters & Hispanics make up a large part of the boxing audience in America. That's not to say that he doesn't fight a more exciting style or that he doesn't have white & black fans, but his initial exposure to the US public was against Oscar, Marquez, Diaz, Morales, Cotto, etc., etc.

Tbh wlad has it easy. All he has to do is stay unbeaten for a while longer. Dating back from his ibf reign he has has a good run.

Vitali on the other hand has a huge task. He doesn't have any real great victories on his resume. His 4 years out cost him dearly. Like floyd he'll just be a fantasy matchup king with the reality showing that williams is in his top 5 greatest victories. He'd literally have to beat every one in the top ten today to get his due credit.

I like watching Vitali fight but I wish he'd retire and let Wladimir unify the rest of the belts. It's been a nice run and he made the history books, but the time has come to let real unification happen. That's coming from a big fan of his too. I understand all the legacy stuff but I'm sure he can't be fighting because he needs the money at this point.

Sorry, no. Vitali was older and when he got busy with a smallish Byrd? He got licked. Lennox was on the tail end of his career when he beat him. It shows that the landscape changed.

They do deserve respect. They are consumate professionals. In the same breath it must be noted that they were banging out "bums" when HW Boxing was deeper. There is no excuse why they were still over in Germany in the late 90's. None.

Of course fans wants "good, technical boxing with a devastating KO". That isn't what typifies the difference between what German fans want and what Americans want though.

German fans are happy to see boxing. They don't crave knockouts like British and American crowds do and if they don't get it, it's not an issue. American and British fans are more bloodthirsty and when we see a weaker foe, we expect our fighters to go in for the kill.
