What could you do that in that situation?

For me this is the worst case scenerio: no legs. You go back you stand straight up to balance yourself/on the ropes, you go forward and try to hug him, he can step back and uppercut.

Quillan should have seen he was putting all that weight on the front foto and knew the right was coming. Quillan seemed very settled on his feet and had the better position to punish Jacobs if he overreached/caught off balance, but didn't understand with all that weight on the front foot of Jacobs, that the right hand and hook were being setup, he should have jabbed and moved. Stayed closer to Jacob's left shoulder either out of range or very close in

Take a knee, hold, throw a low blow, move and jab etc. There were plenty of things to do.

These guys are boxers. The hurt business. You gotta give him the chance to recoop, people have come back and won from far worse damage, that stoppage was a disgrace

I dunno about you guys if I am hurt I am DEFINITELY taking a knee.

Risk of getting stopped and consequences of it to my career > pride in having a knockdown on record. That's the way I look at it

This. Being able to survive when you get rocked is so important. I knew the fight wouldn't go the distance, but I didn't expect Quillin to be stopped in one round.

Thats why your not a fighter just a guy posting on an internet forum.

Most real fighters have to either be KOed or stopped by thier corner before they themselves quit. They live the Come back with your shield or come back on it mentality.

Its only in those cases that the ref makes a good stoppage, if a fighter wont quit under a horrendus beating.

Not on a round1 temple shot that hurt him and messed up his equilibrium

He could've take the punches as light refreshments like Billy Joe Saunders, Chris Eubank Jr, Amir Khan & Nick Blackwell would've done.
