What country will be a force in boxing soon?

Check this tho' Mammadov got Kayoed in the final of the Euros by a Russian kid Aleksei Egorov, who also won the Bocskai memorial in Hungary earlier this year. I know its got no bearing on the thread but I'm trying to find out more about the kid, but nada, 'cept he was ex Russian youth champ.

That said there's already a big and rapidly growing boxing scene in the far east, gradually gaining recognition amongst Western circles. ATM its mainly the lighter weights, but I'm sure that'll change in time. We've already a few enthusiasts on ESB and that can only grow.

I've been wondering whether we'll come in a few years to recognise a 'Far East' style of Boxing as we have 'Mexican' and 'Eastern Euro' styles now - maybe, down the line even an 'African' style?

That's a question that one really has to give some thought too. I like Argentine and I also like the Russians and Cubans. Mexico speaks for it's self. The one thing I'm absolutely sure of and that's Briton is not among them. 2....3....1

Argentina. I have a feeling more big fighters will come from there in the next few years.

 

A few years ago, Mamadov was one of the most touted prospects of amateur boxing but it doesn't look like he's getting better. He gets outmuscled every time he's in with a tough opponent.

As for the Egorov fight, i think Mamadov hurt his left hand in the second, i watched the stoppage a few times and you can see he kinda "quit" as he had been dominated and not in condition to get back in the fight.

Egorov looks really good though, very entertaining to watch too.
