What are the best fights at 147 for Mayweather?

(Please do not say Pacquiao, the guy is arguably coming off 3 straight losses, fights under Top Rank, and is on a different network).

2 losses, not 3. Be consistent in your standards. If you think he lost Marquez III then be equally honest and say he won Bradley instead of trolling - incredible logic!

Mayweather's decision to go to Showtime, knowing he distances himself from the only 2 147 fighters worth fighting...he creates these obstacles. Currently at 147 there is no one, it's an awful division on the GBP/Showtime front - the top 140 guys need to come up. If Broner does well against Malignaggi he'd be a contender but yet there's ANOTHER reason why they can't fight as they're lovers, or brothers, or some **** like that - more excuses basically

So at the moment, it needs Garcia, Matthysse, Peterson to make the jump

I said arguably as you can make an argument for either fight.

Mayweathers decision was based on the fact Showtime offered more money.

It's not "arguably" - you can't argue applying 2 different standards to the same situation to bend it as you like. You can "argue" he's coming off 1 loss or 2 losses, you decide - 3 losses is ***** talk and unarguable

Offered guaranteed money on a long-term deal where his performances/losses/opponents would not be questioned as much. It's all part of the deal, maintain the 0, get rich, don't get your choices questioned too much - let's not be naive

Read my previous posts on Guerrero - with the political manoevring Mayweather has helped create - with the networks, with Top Rank, with all these other match-up that are not possible because of politics, with those other guys off the table, then Guerrero was the only choice

Realistic fights, so no Pacquiao/JMM II/Bradley/etc...

    Good/great fights:
    -Danny Garcia
    -Matthysse/Peterson winner, if Matthysse
    -Malignaggi/Broner winner, if Malignaggi

Acceptable fights, which would be good/great by others' standards:
    -Devon Alexander
    -Kell Brook
    -Matthysse/Peterson winner, if Peterson
    -Malignaggi/Broner winner, if Broner

If I'm trying to make a list of 10 I've got to dig, up next is:
    -Maidana/Josesito winner, if Maidana
    -Amir Khan
-*rematches with either Guerrero or Ortiz

It's pretty weird when the top guys at 140 mean more in a victory than the available guys at 147.

The Top Rank vs Golden Boy issue is really a Bob Arum vs Oscar De La Hoya issue.

According to your logic, so far the only legit fighter Floyd has ducked by moving to Showtime is Bradley, who had just fought 2 months previously (and that is again presuming Bob would sanction the fight anyway).

Also, do not be naive. Rival fighters on different networks is not a new thing. This has been around for years.

Good list. This is a transitional period now at 147. The previous best fighters, they're either old and retired, or up at 154.

We are waiting for the next generation to move up from 140 now, then the division will be hot.

So basically theres **** all interesting fights at 147 for him?

The only one looks interesting is Matthyse, because of his punching power, because he'd get his head boxed but still have a punchers chance. That looks about it

Garcia after he beats Lucas to become undisputed at 140 then moves up to 147 and wins 1-2 relevant fights

Maidana after he knocks out Lopez in a war

We'll get an Amir Khan fight down the road if Khan survives long enough. They'll want to cash out on him before he runs the risk of getting KO'd once again

I remember Tyson v Lewis as an example - somehow they made that fight happen so I'm aware it's not a new thing - I'm also aware some fighters when they want it bad enough, will get the fight made.

I'm not saying he ducked anyone specific by moving to Showtime - it certainly protects him in the future if Pacquiao becomes relevant again for instance...but he has enough excuses for that one already
