What current fighters would hold their own in tougher eras?

    Who did Hopkins beat in the nineties? If he fought and beat them before 2000 they would probably have been his best wins.

    Floyd could run from the divisional bests in any era I suppose.

    They use to fight more than twice per year and they didn't get to pick their opponents.

    except for all the ones who did exactly that.

    sullivan, corbett, dempsey, jeffries, johnson, graziano, zale, robinson, ketchell...........

    guys like welsh and leonard often fought defences with the rule you only got the title if you knocked them out. Imagine the criticism floyd would get for trying that.

    A large percentage of their opponents were not even good enough to be their sparring partners.

    Some consider it sacrosanct to mention Joe Louis and Sultan Ibragimov in the same sentence but as I watched a video of Ibragimov destroy Javier Mora, I thought; Mora would have been one of Louis' toughest opponents... not his toughest but somewhere around the top ten, if not inside the top ten.
