Well, I think when Golovkin retires he can have that status because we can review the majority of his career, only has 4 fights at most left I think. The rest are obviously not to be judged yet. I can see the potential with all of those, apart from Mikey Garcia. Mikey has won all those titles, but who the heck against? Nobodies, that's who. It's embarrassing.

The problem with Mikey also is that he's stuck. He can't go up to welter because he knows for a fact what's going to happen, he will lose so badly against the likes of Thurman, Spence etc. But he also can't really stay at lightweight and light-welter because of Lomachenko, who will beat him so embarrassingly he might even retire on his stool it'll be that bad.. Mikey is stuck and has nowhere to go.

I think that we have a few good british talents who could achieve greatness. Buatsi is the one that springs to mind for me. I fancy him to become a 'legend' in 10-15 years time. Buatsi's got it all, and he has a really good amateur background too. Not to mention the light-heavyweight division is packed, giving one of those many men a chance to become that 'legend'.

I think Buatsi will come on top of them all in that division, I feel he beats Kovalev and Stevenson pretty comfortably on points, wins a close decision against Badou Jack (The most underrated active fighter on this forum by far imo), and wins a close decision against Bivol. If Ward comes back, then I feel Ward vs Buatsi is a 50-50.

Buatsi is the most complete fighter in that division for me. He's got it all, a good chin, decent power, very good boxing ability, decent movement, good defense, good offense, attractive style. Just can't wait for Buatsi to expose Anthony Yarde.

To be honest, I don't even put those losses down to Manny being toward the back end of his career. He and the men he was facing were all getting on, but all three of them were still highly capable performers. In the defeats to Marquez and Mayweather, Pacquiao fought well against great fighters, and it seems crazy to me for anyone to use them to deduct credit from everything else he's done in a 23 year career.

Depends.. A little early to tell.. GGG for sure.. Loma more than likely, BJS, Joshua has done a lot for the HW division so maybe him.. Pac Man regardless already a legend.. Legend status is not all about winning.. A boxers career is defined by a lot of things and the man is a legend period.. Maybe Thurman.. From the semi well known names those are the ones Id mention.. Lots of up and coming talent.

GGG will never make it if he doesn't beat Canelo in the rematch. Cheating or no cheating. GGG needs Canelo. Just as much as Canelo needs GGG.
    Winner of Spencer/Crawford
Thurmon if he clears out 147

definitely - Lomachenko, Pacquaio, Kovalev, Golovkin

good chance . Usyk, Gassiev, Joshua, Spence, Crawford, Mikey Garcia,

(and Josh Taylor, Saunders, Bivol could well become legends, too early though)

Golovkin's is a more underwhelming run of defenses than Calzaghe's, and I have a distinct feeling that there's no Kessler and Hopkins at the end of it. GGG is looking like a bust in any major legacy terms, and it's amazing to me that anyone believes him worthy of enshrinement if he hung up his gloves tomorrow. It's the sheer pretence of devoted fans, put up to shield themselves from disappointing reality.

The word legend is very strong and should only be reserved for those who captured something beyond their careers.

There really have only been a good handful of legends throughout boxing's history.

Floyd Mayweather, #1 of this era, is the greatest legend in this era

    Then JMM, then Manny Peds.

Canelo is merely a name....hes not a special. Beating him does not elevate an opponent to legendary status. Because you can sale ticket does not mean you're a great fighter. Canelo is a product of great promotion and strategic match making.

Spence can't achieve legendary status in welterweight. He needs to move up and dominate middleweight if he really wants to be one of the legends. And this same reason drops Crawford's status as a legend. Because he was a weight bully in 140.

Pac is a no discussion. He is already a legend.
Golovkin, maybe. Haven't done enough. If he was 32 right now at this point of his career. He'd be a legend. But I'm not sure under these circumstances. We'll need to look at it respectively after two years.
Lomachenko... I don't know. His frame can't make 147. Not like Floyd did. He is a smaller dude with smaller reach. What can he do 135 and 140 to gain Legendary status. There aren't enough high competitiveness in those divisions.
Anthony Joshua might be perceived as one. But considering how weak HW division competitively is in respect to other ones, that wouldn't be the case in my point of view.
