It's pretty simple really, when they start to lose fights they wouldn't if they were anywhere close to their best.

Do you a think a prime Roy Jones would of lost to Tarver or Johnson, and by KO of all scenarios? Or even if he was close to his prime?

Do you think a prime or near prime Erik Morales would of lost to Raheem or Diaz?

acoording to many people here it is when they lose for the first time like people saying Tyson was "shot" or not in his "prime" when he lost to Buster Douglas :patsch :rofl

Wait just a second, we're talking about "shot" fighters, not "out of prime" fighters.

Oscar has been out of his prime for ages, yet can still compete at a top-tier level. Hopkins, same. Joens however, lost to Antonio Tarver, and because he can no longer compete at a "top tier" level, all the sudden he was "shot" going into his first loss.

It just doesn't make sense. He might not have been prime, but he was the number 1 P4P fighter in the world going into his first loss to Tarver, but yet coming out of it he was "shot".

Tarver pulled Jone's career out from underneath him.
That's what I'm getting at. People refuse to accept their fighters first loss, if that loss hapens to take place when they're older than 30. How come other fighters, like De La Hoya and Hopkins, can still compete at a top level even at there age, and others just "lost it" as soon as they take an "L"?

take the example of gatti against baldimor, gattis offense was ok but whenever he got hit you could see that his stamina was poor and he couldnt take a punch anymore(which used to be one of his strongest assets),against gomez though he didnt have an offense either so he was just a punching bag

and jones tarver 1 after dropping from heavyweight he looked grey in that fight and just beat tarver but he didnt look the same against- tarver number 2 again he looked grey he won the first round looked good then got caught clean and k.o then glen johnson looked ill again stood on the ropes and got beat up,I think jones knows that his skill has eroded but he aint shot yet he has had to alter his style of fighting and looks healthier now than before
