What dictates the frequency of a fighter's fight?

    Could someone please explain this? It seems like everyone but the boxer decides his fighting frequency. State Athletic Commisions>Promoters>Managers>Trainers>Boxers

    Assuming no serious injuries, KOs, KDs, what is to stop a boxer fighting every 8 weeks? Are there any state commissions that would bar such fighting?

    I think TV dates dictate a fighter's schedule. If there were HBO boxing every weekend or Showtime, fighters would fight more frequently.
