What did Broner and his team think a fight with Maidana was going to be like?

They believed Maidana was a sloppy brawler that Broner can pick apart and walk down. But instead they learned Maidana was a awkward boxer/puncher that loves to fight and is bigger and stronger than most of the smaller opponents Broner is used to walking down.

Belived they were better than they are , then thought Maidana was washed up .

Lets be completely direct, Maidana was in no real trouble what so ever during the enitre 12 rounds.

Broner now needs to be so well managed , I just dont see a way back unless a long list of fighters screw up.

The only time Broner hurt Maidana was that shot after the bell in the 11th round, which caused maidana to be more cautious (but still dangerous) during the 12th.

Sorry but I totally disagree, Fighters comeback from losses all the time.
Broner is a very skilled fighter who just learned the valuable lesson that skill will only get you halfway.

Fighters do come back , but at what level ?

He was in shape and certainly trained hard , you cannot take that kind of punishment for 12 rounds and not.

I doubt he can match any of the top fighters at 140 or 147 and that is where he thought he belongs.

Its his lack of IQ that really hurt him , at no point did he look to change tactics and this is something that cannot taught overnight.

    Peace.

He was talking about partying right after the fight, so what valuable lesson did he learn?

The thing is that they had a Plan A and that was to counterpunch maidanna. When that didn't work Broner tried to walk him down but he failed to realise you acually needs to throw shots for that to work.

That's why I saw saturday. The thing they didn't count on is that Maidana is a good fighter.

I think a major case of ego and an even more major lack of respect for the Maidana/Garcia combo was their undoing.

Broner violated the first rule of combat:

    "never underestimate one's adversary!"
