I'm confused on what you're implying. Are you trying to compare this to an accidental headbutt situation where a big cut opens?

Yes I’ve seen that myself, round five stoppage was it?
Always liked watching Froch but wouldn’t surprise me one bit, they think nothing in boxing of showing us dodgy cards so what’s going on behind that we can only guess?

I think too much is being read into this. Clearly, he was injured in a way that did not allow him to continue. I personally think Donaire was catching up to him anyway and would have stopped him as the fight progressed. Burnett looked like a classic front-runner to me, but to be candid, I am not familiar with him. Doniare, though being "outquicked" in the early rounds, looked the more powerful man.

Horrible way to lose your world title, undefeated record, and place in a tournament which he would've earned very good coin from and raised his profile. I've done my back in a few times from seemingly nothing. I mean like just making a small innocuous movement and I ended up hobbling around like a cripple for days, even weeks. It was totally debilitating and very painful.

If Groenewald is speaking the truth then the mystery man disguised himself as a fan a didn't tell him to take a dive just that the fight would be stopped in the 5th. He would have come from Froch's connections so getting Groenewalds number would not have been a problem. The clincher was the dodgy stoppage. All but a couple of Froch's shots where taken on the glove and just as Groenewald had weathered the storm and was retaliating with a left hook he was smothered by Foster and stopped. That was as suspect a stoppage as you will ever see. He had never been stopped and you could see by his reaction that it was a ridiculous stoppage. Then after the fight we see Froch and Foster having a delightful conversation with Foster smiling and nodding his head. In the post fight interview Froch chuckled while he admitted to telling friends that he would stop him in the 5th. I can see no reason why Groenewald would come up with a story like this if it didn't actually happen.

The rules are clear on cuts caused by an accidental head butt. If the fight has to be terminated because of the cut before the end of the 4th rd it is a no contest (formally a technical draw). After the 4th it goes to the cards for a technical decision. Burnett went down because of an injury and not because of a legal punch and should not have had a count. He should have been given 5 minutes to recover and fight on or lose the fight if he couldn't.

There's a 5 minute rule on an injury sustained by yourself? I never heard of this. Can you show me where it exists? If it actually exists, it sounds like a rule that would never be applied since someone can just pretend like they're injured when they're hurt and recover for 5 minutes?

A rib, kidney, or liver shot can be delayed. If a fighter takes a knee its very hard for the ref to decide in a few seconds if this was due to an accumulation of prior punches or if the fighter injured himself from a pulled muscle. Regardless of the outcome a point should be taken cause you can't call time out to rest. Injuries happens. Sprained ankle , broken hands, nose, cuts, etc... If the injury wasn't a foul by the other fighter, you fight through it or call it quit.

Exactly. Or every fighter down on the cards thinking he has no chance would fake an injury.

There is no rule. The only time a ref takes a time out for injury is for a foul.

That's what I thought lol. Unfortunate he got injured but sorry it's a loss. Nothing fishy here. You don't get time to recover because you injured yourself lol.
