What Did Chisora Do Wrong?

Yeah Haye's strength surprised me, Chisora is a huge HW and Haye was able to push him against the ropes. But Chisora just lacks the boxing skills to beat Haye even on the inside he isn't very technical but I'm sure Chisora will be back he should take a couple of easy fights he is still young for a HW especially since he started boxing very late (wasn't he 20 when he started?)

 

Chisora moved his head and bob and weaved very well occasionally, but the problem was that he didn't throw when he got on the inside. He should've continued moving his upper body and pressuring Haye, then throw before Haye had a chance to hold him. Everytime he got close Haye locked him up. Chisore had to throw before that was possible for Haye. And throw in combinations. Not only big swings.

 

Another example of a fighter who's actions outside the ring created his hype, not in them

 

Not sure how you define 'hype'.

I was impressed by his victory over Hellennius and his performance against Vitali, though neither ever indicated to me he could beat Haye.

He did turn out a poor showing against Fury but that was largely due to him being grossly out of shape (for whatever reason, by design to counter Fury's size or through lack of training), of course that's his fault, but in shape he can be a tough fight for nearly anyone in the division.

He has lots of flaws but it'd be a shame to see people underrating him/writing him off now, the fact that he has lost his last two fights, against the number 1 & 2 HW's, doesn't mean much except that he isn't a ducker.

 

Well he did pretty decent in the ring with Helenius and Vitali

 

Chisora did not work inside, which might have made difference and might have got him into second half of fight.

Chisora is never going to be a ATG, but if he weighs in around 240 pounds he puts on a show and that puts bums on seats which promoters want, so Chisora will get decent paydays.

The lasting 12 rounds with Vitali whilst giving his all is again a sellable factor, allied with his unpredictability means the money will keep rolling for a while yet.

So Chisora has not done much wrong.

He got a bit reckless in the 5th round & got caught with a shot he didn't see coming.His workrate was fine,he was missing a bit prior to that but you could tell Haye was getting tired. Haye had set an unusually high pace to keep Chisora away and he was now getting tired. Haye was holding quite a lot so if he had got to the 6th round I would have expected Chisora to start becoming more accurate and possibly taken Haye out.

 

Chisoras style is made to make David Haye look good, there not much Dereck could have done to increase his chances

 

He looked like the typical Chisora,with even worse technique on his punches than usual,Haye hit Chisora so ****ing hard he turned him somewhat sane.
Chisora will be an entertaining draw at domestic level no doubt but he should avoid the elite for now,I'm almost certain Booth would take Chis under his wing.
Don Charles has done all he can it seems and will never make a world beater out of Chisora.

 

To be honest though, it wasn't really that Chisora was so impressive against Helenius and 50 year old Vitali, it was 'impressive' how awful Helenius and Vitali were. Not really Chisora's credit.

The second he faces a young & game contender like Haye and Chisora quickly falls apart. Too slow, too inaccurate, no defense, no infighting game. Nothing.

 

He'd never beat Haye or a fighter similiar,watching the fight back you can see the look of pure relief on Chisora's face that it was over with,Haye turned the big hard,nasty psycho from the build up of the fight, into a *****.
With any luck this has humbled Chisora.I'd like to see him back down at domestic getting some wins under his belt, then facing off with Helenius again (if he's ever fit enough to fight again)

 

Didn't use his jab enough, and didn't work hard enough to set up his big shots with feints or body punches once he'd closed the distance, instead he was trying to load up big roundhouse punches that are hard to land on someone as elusive as Haye

 

Tomato/Tomato, a large number of people expected him to be knocked out by both, if nothing else he showed heart & chin

BUt you're right, even in those fights there was so many things he should have done much better, especially against Vitali, at times he was just plodding forward with no jab just hoping to land a looping right
