Stood his ground? :huh He ran during most of those fights. He was on the backfoot like 90% of the Hatton fight and was stuck on the ropes 90% of the DLH fight. **** you mean stood his ground?
I rewatched the hatton fight the other day. A few things i observed. Firstly, hatton could take a ****ing shot. The multiple right hands he was taking in that fight would have stopped other 140lbers sooner. Secondly, Floyd got hit clean on occasions. Thirdly, Hatton made floyd miss quite badly some times, which is very unusual. Lastly, Floyd is not a combination puncher. His never ending obsession with landing a high connect percentage lead to him being outlanded in some rounds of his hatton fight, and also decreasing his connect rate to lower then ricky's in some rounds.
Nothing, Mayweather does everything better than Cotto, well, everything that matters & will count anyway. I was very suprised when Cotto beat Mosely, I thought Mosely was gonna cut thru him like butter, I never rated Cotto as a top 5 p4p kinda guy, borderline top 10 probably, this was probably the fight were he impressed me most tbh. I expect to see a much much better Shane, a Mosely closer to the Margarito version than the Cotto version but he`ll struggle to match skills with Mayweather, who I see dishing out a UD, not an easy UD but a not-so-debateable but competitive UD.
hatton got faced with mannys speed and power and lost everything he learned and his total gameplan...24/7 just showed what he could learn...but you can't teach a dog new tricks... he was given the formula to beat manny... he just wasn't born with it. we're eventually gonna be fed the fight we want to see... the **** talk will grow more the anticipation will grow more... but we'll get it... otherwise they both lose in history in eyes of each fans standards. I stand by floyd... but not to take anything away from manny... it's just the pick and choose... i wanted gatti to win against floyd but i knew what was up anyway...just not that friggin bad. (props and respect to arturro thunder gatti) manny coming out to "thunderstruck" by ac/dc is just something that makes me shake my head.. mixing it with eye of the tiger.. makes me wonder how much is mannys idea and how much is the marketing central around him.. i'm sure he himself wishes josh would have put on a better show or act than what he did for such a big show and arena If someone dimished my accomplishments...i would gladly bite my hand and squeeze it into a shot glass and say drink it bitches... and then for urine i would **** on their leg and say...you talking to a legend.....doc. i bet floyd has more of a margin percentage by fans that it won't be easy...and lots see him losing to mosley... mosley is something special and never just considered an opponent to get past. I'm fans of everyone in the mix exept for clottey...abraham...wright. That style works sometimes in a sad boring unjustly manner.. but its a better occasion when someone breaks the ****in wall down and fights. this push for the testing ...i'm all for it.. no more bull****.. imagine how people lost...and lost their spirit in the sport due to their hardwork and sacrafice against someone taking an illegal shortcut? commisions don't catch anyone by the standards that have been set in the years... nosey trainers... etc have caught the ****... so...that being said...when rules tighten up the sport will be better.. your favorite boxer you watched won't get laced by some juiced up power thug. it's sad manny has to have this rep... i'm sure he want to adhere to the rules..but his spokespeople managers trainers promoters...won't.........."bend" to a good rule...that might even benefit their own fighters in the future... it's simple mathamatics made difficult
Floyd and Cotto use the jab very differently, but both have good jabs. Cotto has more weight behind his while Flyod's is more speed and angles. Shane is going to have a lot of trouble getting his rhythm and timing right against Floyd because of it. (along with lateral movement)
