What did Don Turner say about padwork again?

Touching post. Reminds me once again, that boxing isn't so much about boxing as it is about life, something that enriches us and provides an escape from the mundane nothingness of ordinary everyday work. It's a visceral brotherhood(and sisterhood), and as much as we boxing fans all love to quarrel amongst ourselves, it's always good to remember what we all have in common as supporters of the sweet science.

 

I remember someone saying about how padwork can cause problems (if not done right), stuff like finding the range for their fighter, and standing there when they throw punches instead of keeping moving, so in a real fight they end up with bad habits.

 

I remember seeing in footage of a lot of old ones using bags on really long ropes so they'd swing about the place.

I wonder why that went out of fashion.
