I merely think that Valuev upsetting the apple cart and spoiling any chance of a lucrative Klitschko showdown for Haye by brutal knockout would be hysterical.

I'll start by saying that i don't think Haye is the best HW out there or that he stands a good chance of beating either K brother . . . but that said the amount of hate he gets is over the top.

The guy talks a lot of trash yes but there are three solid reasons for doing it.

    1. He gets noticed and positions himself for title shots. There are HWs out there who've been waiting a long time for a shot without ever getting one. Can you really blame Haye for jumping the queue if all it took was him to open his mouth?

    2. He's self promoting. Whether you like it or not he has gained far more attention by running his mouth than he otherwise would get. This means more $$$. Even if people tune into his fights to see him get KTFO because they don't like what he's been doing, he's won.

    3. He realises that the guys he's up against hold massive advantages in the ring. His best shot at beating them is to make them fight rather than box. The only way he can do this is by getting them wound up.

The guy doesn't live his life around the things he says in the press. It's all aimed at acheiving the three goals above. Like it or not I personally think the guy is one of the smartest out there.

Problem is, that when/if he gets beaten, he loses face, and no one wants to see him again. So he jumped up the queue, but only to become the laughing stock, that no one will take serious.

Thats my 2 cents at least.

See what you're saying but in my eyes that's why he didn't want the fight with Vitali. I think he knows that is his most likely defeat and that's why he's gone after Valuev.

He's openly said he doesn't want a long boxing career and that he wants to unify the division. The most lucrative route to do it would be Valuev, Wlad and then Vitali.

If he wins he will be taken seriously.

No but then he would be waiting 3 years for a title shot if he went about things in a respectful manner.

How about EARNING a title shot, have you ever thought things from that perspective?

But Haye challenging Chagaev, Arreola, Povetkin - I can't see that happening.

He's said he doesn't want to be in the game very long. Why earn a shot, which could take years at the rate regular HWs fight, when he can talk himself into one?

I'm all for fighters earning their shots but can't knock Haye for thinking his way around it.

Appreciate that the jump in weight is different from CW to HW but where else would a unified titlist have to earn a shot at a champ in the next division up by beating contenders?

Not that i am a Haye fan but there is a big double standard when it comes to boxing!!

I've noticed that the same people who praise Froch's aragance are the same people who dislike Haye! Froch is very cocky and so is Haye but you get 2 different reaction to their personalities!

This is my personal observation! I've called out a few poster on that! They'll say how they love Froch's confidence/swagger but in a different thread they'll say Haye is too cocky!!

True but there are consequences for everything. Being a loudmouth will get you to the front of the que but people will dislike you for it. It's just a natural response people have, he can't have it both ways.

However, hating a boxer is very different to disliking him. No one should feel that way about any boxer.

I don't argue that his actions shouldn't annoy people but have been trying to bring some balance and rationalisation to what he's been doing.

There seems to be a tendancy to unleash at this fella without considering both sides. . . .

His antics are different but no worse than some of those employed by other boxers yet Haye gets more hate.
