Khan's standing has gone up in recent times. Back when he was a "hype job", there was a lot of hate because of the quality of his competition, but he's stepped up now and there is less to hate. But a lot of people, lets be honest, hate him 'cause he's a 'stani and they're a bunch of mindless ****s.

The main problem I had with Khan, wasn't even with Khan himself, it was the fact that FW put his fights on PPV when he was fighting the likes of ***an and Prescott - that ain't PPV material, and it was insulting to the fans to pretend it was.

I hope he does well, although I'm not really a fan, I wish him the best of British.

All boxers take critism in some form or other, other boxers from the U.K. (Calzaghe, Hatton, Haye, Froch) take just as much and in some case more, just for some reason it seems to be taken more personal when its Khan. If im honest im no real fan of Khans, but it is not due to Khan but more as to the way his career has been guided (not gone) ie He does great at the olympics winning silver, but then has a rematch with Kindelin with a day before way in for the Kindelin rematch rather than a same day weigh in, which gives the impression (might not be but) he was looking for a size advantage. When knocked down by Limmond he was told to get up by the ref as the after the count reached 10 (not Khans fault, but just seemed to leave a bad taste), Khan did come back well to win in the next round. Soon later Khans fights were put on pay per view, when at that time he hadnt fought in world class, gets KOd and then is still on pay per view. Once again not Khans fault just managed in a way that dosent seem to encourage the casual fans, in that you have a guy like Froch (im not saying Froch is or isnt as talented just that hes fought in better class, his own size) making the 1st defence of his WBC title away against a world class opponent and its not shown live on U.K. t.v. and then you have Khan fighting ***an on a pay per view card. Yet again not Khans fault, but it just seems to leave a bad taste to me.

I hope people haven't lost sight of what this topic was? My opening point wasn't about him being disliked for his skin, I just wanted to know if it was his attitude or because he lost, basically.

But I agree with what you are saying by the way, he has been given a nice time and for him to say if he was white he'd be a superstar is a bit stupid considering how much coverage he gets, but I think he was referring to being booed for no reason and all. But not everybody will like him, obviously.

    Bradford here

Just because people use racial slur's and make racial remarks about athletes and sports people doesn't mean they all of a sudden want to vote BNP

Nobody said you were racist. I am not saying everybody that dislikes him is racist. I just wanted to know what peoples thoughts were.

He didn't do anything wrong. Most fighters are hated for the dumbest reasons, often it has to do with either hype or their ego. Hype seems to be Khans issue. It doesn't help that his chin is made of eggshells, either. I feel sorry for him, his chin is terrible -- maybe it had more to do with the weight, won't really know until he fights a guy with decent power who test his chin.

    Very true, lol.

But once again, I would like to stress, I don't believe that disliking Amir Khan makes you racist.

He is unpopular in online forums. But in person I have witnessed him and his family get treated like the royal family. He is just a D level celeb but he got the red carpet treatment on board a flight to vegas that I was on.

His asian fanbase have behaved like complete ****s at his fights ,which has turned afew people off him I guess.

I also think to be liked by British people you have to be either Humble, appear to be trying your hardest and be honest. He sometimes displays these quallities in interviews, but then says something arrogant or cocky or has a motor vehicle incident which makes him seem to be just bullshitting people

The other way is to be cocky and arrogant but be so bloody good that you get away with it and eventually they'll warm to you. Or at least they will retrospectively once your retired as in Prince Naseem
