how can i put this: they do not like him because he is an over paid over exposed over hyped pampered media ***** whos supposed speed does not blind people to the fact that he has a chin like candy floss! did froch recieve a tv deal, endorsements?
BTW this thread title has got a nice ring to it.. might even be a song title.. ooooooh what did Khhhan doo that was soooo wrong.. oooooohh why why?? oooh oohhh Khan
Did Froch win a Gold Medal at a mainstream/primetime major sporting event? And to be fair, Froch isn't as good as Khan. Not nearly.
I gotta be honest in sayin that I only watch Khan to see if he gets KTFO again. Sounds messed up, but true. And at least he's got one more person tuning in to see his fights! Take em how you can get em, I guess.
As I've said Britain is one of the least racist countries in the World at the moment and is very politically correct. I've been all around Europe watching football and the amount of racist abuse aimed at black players is like a throwback to England in the 80's, I can honestly say I can't remember the last player that received racial abuse in this country apart from Mido and that was to do with him looking like Richard Reid aka the shoe bomber rather than his religion. After the huge publicity generated by the racist murder of Stephen Lawrence when was the last time you heard on the news of somebody being killed in a racist attack? You've got a political party in the BNP that gets hardly any votes even though they are the only 'pro white' party, surely if Britain was such a racist country then they could at least get 1% of the voters? If anything tension in certain cities in the north west have been caused by the asian community not wanting to mix as a multicultural society and have been happy to segregate themselves yet you go to places like London, Newcastle, Bristol or Cardiff and everyone lives together happily with little bother.
Yeah though also, did you notice how the view of Froch by your average casual boxing soared after the Taylor fight. People love it when someone shows a bit of heart and pulls off a win when it's assumed he'd lose Rather than diddling around looking for matched fights against people who can't punch, Khan needs to throw himself in at the deep end, if he fails he fails, but if he comes through it, takes some punches but uses his talents to power on and win then it'll change it around I believe and convert the haters
I was against him briefly because he ducked Maidana to take on JMM.... but the more i think of it, the more i cant fault him for that.... hey, JMM was good enough for Mayweather just one fight ago, now Khan cant fight him? Dont get me wrong, i wanted him to fight Maidana, his actual challenger.... but hes opting to fight the smaller, old marquez coming off a loss and in a weight class he shouldnt be at. That rubs a lot of people the wrong way.... But hes very young, trying to make a name for himself (but again, you dont have to fight these old past it small guys (jmm, mab) to make a name for yourself, look at bradley... hes made a name for himself by beating fellow contenders and putting in solid performences time in and time out) but its the path Khan wants to follow.... i dont know the money difference hes making, maybe that has a big part of it too. But regardless... i was briefly against him due to that, now im seeing it a little more reasonable, and although am still dissapointed he didnt fight maidana, am seeing his side of it more. If he makes a habit out of this (hes already fought mab) then he officially becomes a fighter i dont like.... just imo
Well I don't hate Khan, but I can understand a dislike for him because he seems so over-rated IMO. He does have an arrogant attitude as well and that won't get you much love. For his sake I hope he takes on his mandatory, maybe he can get some respect.
I'm not really sure how I would define what I see in my part of England. The racial issues in the north are mainly between Whites and Asians so that is more prominent than any racism against Black or other ethnic minorities. In the pubs I go in you don't hear anyone saying anything bad about David Haye when he fights, they think he's great.. Yet on a Khan fight it's a different story. Also like I said in another post. People saying racial remarks doesn't mean that they support the BNP or any racist party. A ridiculous analogy would be that just because someone doesn't like Chicken Burgers they are going to want them banned and outlawed from every takeaway in the country. Most people think the BNP are just morons and thugs
el ceppy/hoya uk: no froch did'nt win a gold medal and neither did khan! u pleb! frankie gavin however did!! did froch get put on his arse by willie limond of gonez! 'froch isnt as good as khan' i know who id rather watch! a mere kon!
As for Khan, the general feeling is that he doesn't justify the hype and has been exposed by some very limited fighters already in his career. He can turn it around but I don't think he will ever be as popular as the likes of Hatton or Khan as his personality is neither endearing or brash, similar to Lennox Lewis who was never as popular as Frank Bruno. A good point that someone made the other day was that people are more skeptical of hyped boxers in the UK after Audley Harrison and Khan has hardly silenced the doubters with knockdowns against bums and a KO inside a minute against a nobody like Prescott, so to many he has been very well guided with cherry picked opponents and he's still struggled at times. Like I said if he can get a few big wins under his belt then people will no doubt get behind him but until then he will be the hype job that people doubt can cut it at the top like other fighters from this country.
:-( :huh I was at the Salita fight in Newcastle and didnt see any fans behaving like c***s. I did expect to see trouble between the muslims and jewish people but everything was very civil. If anything, when I went gents for a pee after the fight, all I heard was f'in p**i this, f'in p**i that, fight was f'fin fixed....!
Froch did win a bronze in the world amateurs and hasnt been knocked down as many times or knocked out by an unknown puncher, also Froch has in general fought at a higher level in that in his last 4 fights, 3 of the fighters were undefeated, one of which is now WBC champ in the weight above. Froch made his 1st title defence away, and his next defence is away again to another known world class fighter with some pedigree. Froch may or may not be as talented as Khan but has fought at a higher level.
