d33pwaters: holy **** hahaha you make interesting points! im still trying to work out where amir got this gold medal from! did he steal it from frankie gavin?
Some people just have a way of rubbing me the wrong way. Khan is one of them. That's not to say he's a bad person or I would disrespect him if I ever see him in person. He seems like an ok guy from what I've gathered in his interviews. I just know that I don't have to get excited every time I see his face. I'm sure many people feel the same about me and I'm cool with that.
I am British and I dont really like Khan. I think a lot of people do not like Khan due to the way he got instant stardom after the Olympics. I think a lot of people believe his remacth with Kindelan (his last amatuer fight) was a set up to allow him to turn pro pretending he had left nothing behind to achieve in the amatuer game. He then was given primetime TV slots in a load of mismatches. Evry new boxer gets mismatches but they aren't broadcast on primetime TV. When Khan was on the commentators would/will insult your intelligence by lying to the audince that these opponents are credible and have a chance of winning- when they don't. His full career has been carefully managed, which is what you would expect with a prospect, but the main grievance I have is the fact everyone knows it has been carefully managed and opponents have been selected very carefully to be has beens, never will bees with paper records. The commenytators know this nut dont say it as they want to trick you and get your money and people resent this. It doesn't help that many consider him to be arrogant. He was on PPV before he should have been, I still dont think he desreves a PPV slot, but he wanted it due to his greed. I think there undoubtedly is a racist elelment to many peoples views on him as well. Black people are accepted in the main in the UK but there are few high profile Asians and many have greivances with Islam and asians in general.
This hate though was a direct response to the polar opposite force, irrational love for him. The more hyped a fighter is the more hated they are, the more unfounded the hype, the more hate. The hate seems to have died down though and he is now fairly well rated, a very good fighter who was unnecessarily hyped early on and it bit him on the arse, but he is pushing past that.
The public, especially the British public, have been fed an INSANE amount of bull **** about him. He's over-hyped to the extreme; he was given prime-time slots on network TV fighting absolute nobodies while being hyped up to be the econd coming of jesus. He's thick as pig **** and dull as dishwater. he's not offensive by any means, but his career and personality are just dire. Casual fans have nothing to latch on to with him, and boxing fans see through his, and his promoters, bull****.
imo, UK posters hate him because of his race. imo, ESB chincheckers hate him because of his glass chin. imo, roach haters hate him because he is roach's ward.
Yeah, but did those guys fight guys with only 1 or 2 KOs in ALL their early fights? And then get badly rocked by a jab and knocked out cold by the first guy they fought with a decent KO record??
