that video clearly shows that Montiel was unable to pick his own gloves up

I'm glad Montiel was able to walk out of the ring on his own power. He's a warrior and showed it by even getting up to continue.

  4. It was amazing to me that after that shot, hitting the canvas with his head, and then convulsing... that he was somehow able to stand up and appear somewhat ready to fight before the count of 10. :yikes

yeah your right i rewatched as well and the ref didn't see it, I guess I blame the doctor then for not calling the ref over and stopping the fight

The ref botched this big time. I'm all for giving a guy a shot to keep doing if he's clear headed, but I mean it was clear that Montiel was not there. I mean what's the point of asking him to raise his gloves, if your not gonna pay attention to whether he actually can or not? That was a clear sign that Montiel was not there and that his brain was still scrambled. Nobody would have said anything about him stopping it right there. But the ref let a defenseless man take 2 more unncessary shots. Could've been worse.

I sometimes wish you guys to get in the situation where you get KTFO due to an incompetent ref just to come back here crying why you weren't saved.

Terrible ref job, for a moment I thought Montiel's gonna get Maccarinelli'd, at least then the ref stepped in quick. He was CLEARLY in no condition to continue after the KD.

  9. Agreed That was a bad call by the ref.

To his defence it didn't take him 2 seconds to correct the mistake.

well the video indicated that ref didn't see the seizures, like one poster said, it was a normal KD in his point of view, and when kochulito's was groggy it was then that ref gave him a chance....

taking the convulsions aside, if you were the ref would u let the fight continue? I mean disregard the convulsion, just look at it where kochulito was trying to stand up....

It was a good stop man. He gave the man a benefit of a doubt. Montiel stood up but the ref kept a CLOSE eye on Montiel's response to Donaire if Montiel had fought back the fight would've continued.

    **** job by the referee.

Montiel was in no state to continue fighting. This is evident by him not being able to even put his own gloves up. He couldn't even respond with any words, nods or anything!

But I suppose he made up for it by quickly stopping the fight once he realized Montiel was out of it. That could have ended badly.

as soon as he stumbled when he first tried to get up, i would've stopped the fight. much more when montiel was standing in the ref's face.

and that wasn't seizure, it's more like a "what the hell, i'm down, i can't lose, come on legs move!" type of thing

    A very heavy KD

Hit his head on the way down and started twitching...BUT he got up and responded to the refs instructions..

Tough one to call, it should probably have been stopped though

Similar to the Judah / Tszyu KD

OK Re-watched it, yeah he should have stopped it..

On a positive note he didnt take too many more after that.
