I don't know what you're talking about. He looks so cool in that picture as he raises up the fists that brought knocked out 31 men and culminated in his knockout of the greatest heavyweight of the 90s. Even after he gets knocked down from Lewis in their rematch he tries to get up displaying his tremendous heart.

Leonard isn't considered Top 10 P4P by the consensus of ESB [http://www.boxingforum24.com/showthread.php?t=459918]. If I shouldn't post because of that then I guess the whole of ESB shouldn't post either since they don't agree with you .

Roberto Duran was mostly fighting bums at lightweight up until he got recognized in the U.S. So when people try to rank him 10 based off of that it's BS. When he did step up (also went up in weight), he did show he was a great fighter but not Top 10.

I guess Chavez should be Top 5 because he "dominated" so well at his prime weight. Don't feed me that BS.

Look him up. Do some research. Watch some fights and stop embarrassing yourself.

Leonard was a 22 year old skillful weak kid when he fought Duran. Here's your homework, go watch Leonard vs Hagler or Leonard vs Lalonde when Leonard was a MAN with ring intelligence and man strength then watch Leonard vs Duran 1 when Leonard was a quick, weak, kid with less ring intelligence and see which fighter was he actually "prime".

If you have a dog and it's a 12 month old puppy full of energy, is it in it's prime?

Would you rather have your 12 month old puppy defending itself or the 4 year old filled out strong adult dog?

    Before Ray Leonard
    W Carlos Palomino (HOF)
    W Ernesto Marcel (An ATG)
    W Ken Buchanan (HOF)
    W Esteban De Jesus x 2
    W Hector Thompson
    W Guts Ishimatsu
    - These guys aren't nobodies lol
+ Looked unbeatable, H2H brute at 135lbs - that is a BIG factor. Everyone can judge and realise that no one at 135lb could have beaten Duran. He's unanimously regarded as at least the Top 2 135lber of all time, and widely regarded as the greatest 135lber ever.

He would balloon up in weight and it would take a toll on his body as the years went on. He was visibly not as good at 147lb, Ray Leonard in commentating the Wilfried Benitez-Roberto Duran fight comments a lot on this.

Roberto Duran got to a stage where he'd weigh 151lbs on one fight, and 134lbs for the next fight, his weight fluctuations pre-and-post Leonard were serious.

I don't think you have ever watched a Duran fight before. The difference between him when he fought Moore, and how he was at 135lbs.

There's a reason why a guy with losses against Hearns, Hagler, SRL 2, Benitez is always regarded as Top 10 of all time. You have just done a boxrec job on him.

Looked unbeatable? Anyone can look unbeatable fighting bums. I can name at least 5 lightweights who had a better run than Duran.

Typical Red, never actually listening and allowing new information to have implications on line of thought. Hence the disregard of all of the good names I mentioned. Nevertheless, with all of the fighters he fought, from contender level, to champions, to hall of famers, to ATG, to journey men, he was 72-1 by the time he got to Montreal. His ring age was pretty old already.

You guys don't understand the difference between prime and past prime, and past prime to VERY past prime.

The Leonard fight alone is one of the most significant wins in boxing history probably only ranking behind the likes of:

    Louis vs Schmeling
    Frazier vs Ali
    Ali vs Foreman
    Foreman vs Moorer

Then factor in his career before and after the Leonard fight and you will see why the guy is considered at worst in the top 15 of any ATG list you can find.

But how many non-bums did he fight in that time frame? Better quality of opposition in that time frame than most fighters today have on their entire resume, including the current #1 PFP.

Seriously, you guys have to start thinking. It's a simple fix really. Just watch the fights. Never visit boxrec. Just watch the fights.

Duran's defenses of his lightweight title were all KO's except Viruet. that was cool, but he took all night long to KO these guys that other fighters not considered ATG's KO'd much easier faster.

16-8-1 Javier Ayala KO'd 3 times before fighting Duran went 10 round distance with Duran.
25-10-5 Guts Ishimatsu Ko'd three times before fighting Duran, duran took 10 rounds o stop him.

OK, I bored, but there are more Duran opponents that were dispatched by other fighters much quicker and easier than by Duran and the fighters that KO'd those opponents weren't necessarily known a big punchers.

Speaking of not being big punchers, almost all of Duran's Lightweight title defenses were against guys with sub .500 KO ratios on their records and none where known as bangers. So any rating of Duran's chin based on fighting guys that aren't KO'ing anybody else anyway should not be considered.
