Going against non punchers of shorter size enabled his knockouts to come much easier .His knockout percentage would significantly drop if he had the AJ route for instance was the point because if you switched resumes and have Wilder fight Wlad in fight 18 or a Povetkin in his 20th fight or whatever not so sure Wilder sees knockout because I think he suffers one. Knockout percentages are tricky things because missing one makes it really look not as good, the new fan groups would look at percentages not opponents,it’s how they tricked most into believing he’s the biggest puncher of all time including Atlas who behind closed doors was shaking his head with that one after the Fury fight.

Ok. But i guess that's not what i was talking about. If you don't believe Wilder had a huge punch, we can just agree ti disagree.

Wilders best actual knockout is also Jennings and Chisoras who was Szpilka ,but one thing that separates all of them is Wilder was forced to stop someone because he can’t box and win rounds to not worry about not getting the knockout. This would have little todo with Wilders power but why he needs knockouts to secure a win , this then created the biggest puncher ever thing .

He proved that he was a very hard puncher, the most dangerous guy in the division (in so much as you can't afford to switch off for moments) and a top contender.

how far you can get if you can punch very hard, come in well conditioned, be determined to land that shot no matter what, and have good management

Proved that Fury is a cut open glove cheater! And bodybuilder's don't generate as much punching power as basketball ball players do! Seriously! I don't want to see Deontay fighting someone taller than 6ft 7 again! It's not fair on him!

An interesting topic. Once we've covered Wilder's resume, could we move onto GGG-Ward negotiations and who is REALLY holding up May-Pac?

What do I think it’s proved (maybe not for the first time)

If there isn’t a technically gifted heavyweight around such as Ali, Holmes, Tyson, Holyfield, Lewis then it’s possible for a well connected management team to take the raw materials and plot a way through to the titles.

That isn’t to dismiss Wilders attributes
    Height
    Reach
    Conditioning
    Ambition
    Athleticism
    Punch power
    Fighting spirit

Through careful matchmaking, good self promotion, a willing network and a compliant Governing body, Wilder and team conjured a career that at one time threatened the records of the very greatest heavyweights we’ve ever seen. What a travesty that would have been!

I could be unkind and call his career all smoke and mirrors but he has some merits.

I would be happy to see Wilder drop down to the next tier of Whyte, Ruiz even Parker.

If he can prove he can beat that level of comp, then he doesnt need to go as low as Hrgovic and Dubois, who are still making their way up.

Beating Whyte or Ruiz would make him a legitimate belt holder.

My guess is Hunter and Ruiz will fight for the mandatory position in 2021 in the IBF , Hrgovic is ranked 6 right now ,Usyk and Pulev will drop in those rankings when they take an L and Hrgovic will be in a mandatory eliminator position by 2022 . By then Wilder least amount of worry’s would be Whyte ,if he takes another loss I think it’s over and no way he would go near Hrgovic who is going to be seen as anyone’s problem even more then DDD if he gets by Joyce . You also have to fit Martin in there somewhere as a possible opponent for either Hunter or Ruiz ?

He proved that he's a solid fighter that takes serious fights. His first loss came against an ATG quality opponent who he's planning to fight for a third time now. His first loss sure as hell didn't come against an obese half consistent joke like Ruiz. You can hate all you want and say idiotic deluded nonsense like "cherry pick". It proves nothing but pure hatred because reality is clearly the complete opposite.
