First time I've seen either of them fight and funny enough it was the 5th round when I came across this fight. Clev was moving better than Fonfara but he certainly never possessed the power to truly hurt him. I thought he was a true warrior fighting after he broke his nose and he put on a very gutsy performance. I was waiting for either one of the to punch to the body more than they did, but then again they did set a Compubox record for punches thrown and landed in the light heavyweight division. I thought it was a damn good fight and it was up for grabs after the 10th, but Fonfara clearly won those last two rounds.

Brahmer has a good beard, can punch and is not afraid to brawl. Stylewise it's all wrong for fragile Clev.

Very apt username you have there. You clearly have all the wits of a plank of wood.

Fragile? Cleverly got mauled by Kovalev and that's it. I imagine Braehmer would suffer a similar fate. Would he then be fragile? He showed loads of grit and toughness vs the bigger, stronger Fonfara.

Were they to fight, Braehmer might very well beat Cleverly, but again, who has he fought and murdered for you to say he'd murder a guy like Cleverly? Braehmer is as protected as they come.

He looked better than against Bellew, didn't look shot at least. Didn't like the showboating, honestly was annoying as **** but he looked OK, Fonfara was just the better guy.

Agreed, and it was highly competitive and razor close. Sometimes guys' stock goes up with a loss, as Fonfara's did vs Stevenson. Cleverly's stock went up in my eyes. He showed toughness and determination, and at least showed he belongs at LHW and not CW. With a more appropriate gameplan, he clearly could have won that fight.

He came out firing and throwing hard like I've never seen him before. I couldn't believe I was watching the same fighter. He schooled Fanfare in the first three rounds. If he could fight like that for an entire fight he would be a dominant force.

But like a lot of his fights he seems to fade a bit and get arm weary and starts slapping and tossing shoe shine combos. Maybe it was breathing problems with the broken nose.

I have nothing but respect for the guy. He took Fonfara's best shots and kept trying even when he was running on near empty. Great fight.

That's the problem with Cleverly, he never has that gameplan, he seems to have the talent but he just fights in a strange way that's not at all suited to his strengths. He's got a lanky build, fast hands, he should be outboxing people yet he fights in this weird trading style...

Cleverly was winning then got really ****y and started showboating... That was the turning of the fight and Clevs downfall...it seemed to make Fonfara try harder... and Fonfara bossed it from then on...

This fight proves what a MASSIVE puncher Kovalev is as Cleverly has one of the best chins in Boxing. Cleverly proved hes still a good top 10 fighter with heart,determination,skills,chin.... he can come again.

Cleverly's biggest issue is that he does not possess the punching power to get respect of top guys in the ring so they will just keep on coming and punishing him no matter how many slaps he throws at them. His boxing skills are impressive, though, in both defense and offense. As is hand speed. There's a lot of Calzaghe in his approach to boxing.

But without the foot speed and tireless motor.

I agree he doesn't have the power, but he can still win fights. Problem is is that he brawls rather than boxes, and without good defense, he will not win the exchanges.
