Well, think I'm starting to lose the desire to box. The only thing I really do is spar...I was going to fight amatuers a couple years ago, but changed my mind, and decided I'd go towards fitness modeling. SO, right now the only reason I think I box is the adrenaline rush, and it helps keep me in good shape.
I knew if I didn't have a GOAL within boxing it'd be hard for me to do it eventually, and thinking it's about time. I exercise a lot, but like I said...I want to fitness model, bodybuild, etc, and also do it to look GOOD FOR THE LADIES so I stayed motivated. I spar about once a week, and love it when I do it, and tomorrow I'm suppose to go, but don't have that same desire right now. In boxing I really have nothing to look forward to. If I were to quit I'd still work the bag (keeps me in good shape), but about the only thing I can say it gives me is a little bit of confidence knowing I can fight if need be.
What would you guys do in my case?

really you are the only one who can answer this question for your self. really you are the only one who knows if you want to box or not. if you dont like something then why do it? its not quitting if you dont have anything invested into it. know what i mean? if it is something you really dont want to do anymore then find something else. but if it is something you do want to do then stick with it.

I dunno...I enjoy it, and love the feeling it gives, but throughout the week I'm thinkin...What do i get out of this really? It's a MMA class, but they focus a lot on boxing. After I get done I feel so sore for about the next 2 days from getting hit/ rolling around/ etc.
I realize it's putting me in good shape, giving me more confidence, and I'm learning how to grapple now....BUT I also realize if I probably didn't do this class I wouldn't be so sore, I could focus more lifting, and focus more on working my bag (getting in better shape because I need it)/ tecnique/ etc. Only thing is I know once I stop I'll feel like crap since I'm not sparring. So...I dunno.
Plus I had a guy that use to come with me, and he was going to fight toughman in january so tryed to help train him. He gets knocked down a couple weeks ago, and think he's scared/ embarrased, and won't come back. So, got to go by myself.

I haven't lost the desire yet. The more I do it and am around it, the more I love this ****.

Yeah, but what are your goals? Thinkin' that's my problem is I need a goal.
I'm the type of person that'll have something to have to train for, something I really want to accomplish, and work very hard to acheive it. Whenever I get it...I move on to the next goal. My goals could be something like in 3 weeks, 3 months, or even longer.
If I'm not going to actually fight, you just think to yourself what are my goals? Lifting I could always say it's to be healthy, and look good. Doing this stuff...Getting punched in the face, getting kicked, having somebody choke ya, black eyes, busted noses, great soreness. You just look at all those things, and realize you aren't doing this to train for anything, you aren't helping somebody else train for there stuff, and seems to be without purpose. All the guys at the gym seem to have somewhat of a purpose. They box, they cagefight, they wrestle, there a cop, or they teach. There like "What are your goals?" I'm like..."I do it for fun." It is fun, but I think I need other motivations.

Think I pretty much came to a conclusion. We have to pay dues at the beginning of the month so today is the last day. I'm gonna go, and just see what happens. If I enjoy it I'll go back next month, and if I decide to quit I'll take a month-two months off, work real hard to get in incredible shape...They already taught me a lot about conditioning. Then, I'll come back. With some time I could really have some great stamina.
Only thing I wouldn't take so well is a punch rigth then. They say after you quit for a while, and go back you get a lot more sore from doing it.

thing is, agencies like it if your in some kind of sport and combat sports are big right now. People like the fighters physique and wish they could be a fighter too so that opens doors as a fitness model. I have been accepted as a fitness model myself and the agency told me its a good thing (boxing) but I should be careful lest I get my face messed up. Facially Im good looking but not gorgeous, I have been called gorgeous but its few and far between and theres still loads of guys better looking than me. You still have to have a decent face for fitness modelling but generally the leaner you are the better looking you are. Anyhow Im basically saying stick with it since it'll help your career AND you learn some cool skills along the way. Besides chicks like tough guys (sometimes) and love guys with talent (always). Best of luck with whatever you decide.

You need to have something to fight for, If you are truly losing your desire then stay out of the ring, you either want to fight or you don't. Sorry to be blunt but that's the way it is, nothing we say is going to get your motivation back, you need to do that on your own

Went over tonight, and I'm taking a month or two off. Not necessarily because I want to...but I seriously need to.
I've got some decent skills, decent cardio, etc, but I'm quite short. I'm 5'6, 165. I lift a lot, and am pretty strong, BUT pretty much all these guys are BIGGER than me! Not only that, but they train for different stuff so they all live for fighting, and have better cardio than me! So, no matter how good I am I'm at a huge disadvantage.
So, me being short I understand I need to do a lot of movement, get on inside and pound these guys. I know this...but my body can't do it. They go 3 minute rounds, stand up, and do leg kicks as well (I'm not very good at that). They only do 30 second rest between rounds. So...you got me who does it once a week for fun, and to be tough, and then you got these much bigger guys that do it for sport.
So, here's the fight for you guys...It's me bobbing and weaving, coming in (sometimes taking punishment/ sometimes not) working em, them kneeing me, if there MUCH bigger (like 40 pds) then they muscle me off, and then I come at em again. I'm having to throw twice as many punches as they are, and I'm not even in as good of shape as they are! So, eventually I gas out. Most of the guys are professional, and go easy...but some are not, and if you got a guy 40-50 pds bigger slugging with ya, and has decent skills it's not a good feeling.

Realizing all this, there isn't much of a point. I've been doing lots more cardio, and it's getting there, but it's not something that's going to happen between today, and next thursday. I decided I'd wait a month or two, and get myself in peak physichal shape, gain a few pounds, and come back. To fight how I have to since I'm so short (like a mike tyson) you gotta have some SERIOUS wind! So...guess I just made myself a goal to strive for.

I would concentrate on only only thing.

But first I would take a holiday (and I mean a relaxing holiday), make sure that you are giving your body the correct fuel, establish a good sleeping pattern, cut alcohol and caffeine from your diet if you have not already done so (It will take around 3 months to get used to this), and then devise a plan that is based on rational thought rather than vague ideas fueld by emotion.

Yeah, I eat pretty decent, sleep pretty well, and don't drink alcohol/ pop. Just need some time to let my body heal up, and then get in great physichal shape. I'll probably take 2 months off.

Probably small fish in a big pond. Although I ended up quitting for now...Getting in shape so I can come back in a couple of months is going to be one of my greatest motivations.

It takes for me couple of days away from boxing to start missing it and realizing my life is becoming empty again.
