what did you think of the ref delaying the start of the 8th round in Wilder vs Ortiz

The powers to be did not want Ortiz to be champion so they were going to do everything they can to make sure Wilder was able to compete in the 8th round..

If the ref needed to check on a fighter, he should have done it while the seconds were in the ring, not after the bell rings and both fighters are ready to start.

Fact: It's normal procedure and it happens frequently

Fact #2- It changed nothing because he was 100% ready to fight, this is just people grasping at straws because Deontay is now a top 10 p4p fighter!

The referee performed his job perfectly, which is helping out his countryman in every way possible.

 

It was within the rules and legal but it's a horrible rule that lends to being used to favour certain fighters. Wilder definitely gained an advantage by being given more time when hurt.

Also why wasn't Ortiz given the same treatment and given more time after he was dropped at the end of the 5th?
