What Divisions Really Capture Your Attention

I probably have the best knowledge of the middleweight division. I spent a lot of time checking out the gatekeepers and prospects of the division. This is mainly due to the fact they were on the radar of the three big Irish middleweights of the last few years.

I'm loving the bantamweight division. The tournament has been a breath of fresh air and it's probably the division that gives the highest ratio of entertaining fights.

168 is also a really exciting division purely for the strength and depth in the division.

Despite welterweight being the most publicised division, it does very little for me. The quality fighters from that division (aside from you know who) are past their best or fighting in a different division.

168+ doesn't excite me at all to be honest. I'll still watch a fight if it's on but they are all weak divisions and the fights are generally less exciting than the smaller weights. I can't for the life of me understand the obsession with heavyweights. Slow, lumbering, oafs hanging out of each other that are knackered after they throw a few punches. No thanks!

 

I wouldn't say I would follow any particular division. I know the main guys and contenders in each division probably down to Bantam and would know some of the better fighters below that but outside of maybe 2 or 3 names at the lowest weights and I would struggle to name another and know how he fights roughly. Divisions I used to follow heavily was the Light Welter and Light Middleweight. For years these divisions have had great depth but the contenders rarely face off with each other and I think we have missed out on some brilliant match ups.

Just looking down the ring rankings it sort of strange that I have seen most of the top ten in each division at least once or twice on a shitty stream whether they are in the main event or undercard. Even saying that there is not too many that I have actually went out of my way to see. After Bantam I know hardly anyone though need to brush up on those guys.

 

I like boxing all round, but have Always been a big fan of the SMW division after getting up on a school night to watch Leonard/Hearns rematch in a SMW unification, since then the division has been great with Eubank, Benn, Collins, Calzaghe, Ottke, Froch, Kessler, Mitchell, Lacy, Liles, Bute, Beyer, Reid, Jones, Woodhall, Catley.
Plus there was a great lot of good fighters on the UK scene, Like D Francis, D Starie, etc and we had the good Groves/DeGale fight.

I also like MW and LHW alot

I hate the fact that I seem to be the only one that follows super-fly and below(except straw) with any kind of intensity.

 

For me it's everything, but not too interested in the current Straws,Heavys or Cruisers.

 

I know most of the top guys in most of the divisions though I will admit for some reason I know less about the middle, feather and bantams than I should for some reason probably because we haven't had any British interest in the upper echelons of those divisions for the last couple of years. Still that said i know the main title holders and contenders in those divisions just not as bigger general knowledge base

 

And Koji Sato doesn't make up for that??!?
