Out of all boxing divisions, which ones would you eliminate? IMO out of all the "new" divisions, cruiserweight was probably the best addition. Guys like Ellis, Quarry, Patterson, etc, were too big for LHW and undersized for HW, and as such, cruiserweight was probably the best addition to weight divisions. I would go with super middleweight as probably the most unnecessary division. Guys like Ward, Calzaghe, etc. should have always been light -heavyweights.
As much as I love the fighters there, 108 and 122 would be eliminated by me. All the others you mention have more viable arguments of a lot men naturally being that size and struggling at higher/lower divisions. I actually think they should add a division between LHW and CW (due to the 25lb gap), and remove some others.
Lol. it’s funny because it’s true. If you don’t weigh 169-175 Georgie boy’s got no use for ya. He only knows of SRR from one fight haha.
Alot of them let's cut cruiser out and have great little men compete with the lumbering giants! Heavyweight would have so much to gain as would lightheavy.
If Pro boxing went to the 10 amateur weight classes, things would be much better. The less weight classes more more talent and defined the champion shall be. With 17 weight classes and 4 world championship belts...that's too many champions. I'm a boxing guy and there is no way I could name them all, BUT if there were only 10 weight classes, I could probably name at least one per weight class. A KG = 2.2 pounds. Light Fly (49kg), Fly (52kg), Bantam (56kg), Light (60kg), Light Welter (64kg), Welter (69kg), Middle (75kg), Light Heavy (81kg), Heavy (91kg), Super Heavy (91-plus) With these weight classes you'd see less BS weight drains on the scale. Another problem boxing has is there are too few fights between contenders. Cut the weight classes and well see more of the top 10 opponents meeting each other.
I would also reduce the number of belts to 2 per weight class. Would make for fun unification fights.
If your gonna do that than you have to force these either lazy or prima Donna champs to defend 3 times a year. Anything less is BS
Yeah, and they should probably go back to fighting Non-Title fights to stay sharp. I don't get this infatuation with making weight? If you don't make it, why not have a ten rounder like the good ol' days.
