This. I like the fighters I like WAY MORE than I bother hating the fighters I hate. I care about the resume of a fighter I like improving more than I care about the resume of a fighter I hate getting worse.
Got to admit, "A fighter I hate lose". There are very few I hate in the sport which is why it's golden when they lose.
Not since I was a kid and wanted to see Naz beaten(especially by my boyhood hero McCullough) have I actually hated someone enough to want them to lose. Funnily enough, in recent years, I actually became a fan of Naz and wish there were guys like him around today!
In general, people want to see the fighter they hate lose. Me, personally, I want my fighter to win. I don't hate or love anybody though, that's too much.
I sometimes wonder if people unwittingly really want to see the fighter they hate win so they can keep on hating.
I used to always root against Jon Jones (I felt he was lucky in the Belfort fight and thought he lost to Gustaffonson) But over time he proved me wrong and made me truly realized that he is indeed THE REAL DEAL . Hes not all hype like I thought he was . Now I don't root against him anymore , I got to respect talent when I see it . That man truly is special .
