Yeah, I'm going to get behind Joe Calzaghe. But I hate his style? I hate his punching technique? I don't particuarly care for his personality. I'm unimpressed and underwhelmed by his level of competition. His dad is kind of annoying. Nothing about the way the man fights is even remotely compelling to me, but I 'spose you're right. He is British. I should like him based on that alone. Okay.

Barerra is a true warrior , he slayed the obnoxious ***** hamed , fought in one of the greatest rivalries in the last 30 years and embodies the very best of the mexican boxing warrior spirit ,

I'd always detested hamed as an overhyped media sensation and knew that as soon as he faced real quality he would be exposed as the showboating egocentric bully that he was - tremendous power but overated technically.

I only said Pablo Cano was a schoolboy fresh out of college and shouldn't prove the difference between MAB and EM. :D

well going by the people I talk to around the amatuer gyms up here in the north east - Haye is generally despised as a poser ' all fur coat and no knickers' is one old boys favourite Haye comment ,

Same with Hamed - we like our sporting heroes to have earned the right to be a big headed arsehole - but at the same time we like them to remain humble ,down to earth and true to thier roots - Nigel Benn fits this mould perfectly.

Hameds utterances about his greatness coupled with his OTT ring entrances were cringeworthy and just like Haye - they turned off a lot of the real boxing fans .

Im British and a huge MAB fan.

Hamed was a bit like Eubank while he was fighting. A large portion of Brits supported him but also wanted to see him get taught a lesson for being such an arrogant *****.

A bit like we did with Khan until he finally got humiliated, sorted his **** out, then won himself a bit of respect.

I loved Hamed but he was getting so over the top, it was really satisfying to see a more down to earth warrior like Barrera take him down a peg or two.

Two great fighters and nobody with an ounce of respect for the sport could deny they were both very talented boxers.

Barrera is an ATG and Hamed could have been, had he lived up to his full potential.

6.25 "I really wanted to knock him out. I trained so hard".

Wait, what? I thought you didn't train for this one, Naz?

I will say though, Naz was really humble in defeat. He made no excuses, it was everyone else.

I remember the night Naz won the Euro belt off the little Italian(can't be bothered to look up his name). There was a gulf in class between the two fighters but Naz had to taunt and humiliate the guy in the ring making him miss and all that. He totally belittled and humiliated a fellow pro. I hated Naz for that.

When Naz tried to taunt MAB he received a punch in the face every time for his trouble. When MAB finally got pissed off with Naz and bounced his head off the ring post I just thought it was payback for a lot of fights in which Naz was a total *****.

I become a big Barrera fan after that fight.

Belcastro was his name, good champion and i totally agree with you. He was like it against Robinson aswell. I never liked Naz ,watching MAB humble him was lovely.
