Pretty much, they were both embarassed by fighters who are **** at how they finished them. ***** on paper at least * Chonan other sub was via punches
Plus, if GSP had been in the game, I have no doubt he would've survived that beating by Serra. He didn't even look that hurt, just defeated. And Anderson was caught by a freak heelhook. Chonan knew how to do it, that's all that matters. It's not like he's gonna rack up a number of submissions with a heelhook like that which comes out of nowhere.
Anderson silva had an injured foot and was hit by a freak submission on said injury very different to getting beaten by matt serra. Not taking anything away from Matt hes a good fighter and he beat a legend but hes not on their level.
