    Isn't Pavlik fighting Hopkins himself?

And wow he outboxed Kelly Pavlik. Big ****ing woop. The guy isn't exactly a supreme technician himself.

There's a lot of people who could outbox Pavlik, including Calzaghe himself.

And you seem to be forgetting that Calzaghe is 37 himself. Maybe Pavlik needs to stop picking on 'old guys', grow a pair and get in the ****ing ring with Arthur Abraham.

Haha he's contradicting himself constantly......Calzaghe at 37 is cherry picking a 39 year old but Pavlik at 26 fighting a 43 year old and chasing a 37 isn't the same???

And you're forgetting Pavlik was practically one shot from being stopped in the first Taylor fight, he's far from unbeatbale

this takamura guy is pretty dumb......if he's a big Pavlik fan, no problem, but be realistic

It depends really on the natural gift of the guy that can make him successful. He can be a master boxer but if he has a chinaware jaw (like jt), a work rate that goes down on later rounds (like jt), that imo doe'snt discredit him being a master boxer. If he has natural raw power in his punches like jmm or mijares that would make him more successful too.

I can he say he did that on the 2 fights with kelly but pavlik is just too strong, too determined, and too 1 dimensional to never care in the world as long as he has the power, that's why kelly won. Really jt almost have pav wasted on the first fight.

I'm not too much hugging on jt's ass but those fights would make me believe that he can outbox anyone on his division though.

    He's clearly another Pavlik nut-hugger.

All I will say to him is that Hopkins is about to expose his arse.

Calzaghe would school him, Kessler would decision him too.

Why don't you define master boxer too? I know you love to hug joe's balls too much. Calzaghe can outbox kelly the way jt did? Can you tell me if joe outboxes kelly would it be better than the way jt did against kelly where he almost had kelly out with those combinations at their first encounter??? or even on the second? Would joe outbox kelly better than jt did?:huh

1 - Taylor does not have a 'chinaware jaw' whatever the **** that is. It's probably average, perhaps slightly above, but far from china.

2 - I wouldn't describe JMM or Mijares as having 'natural raw power' in there punches. Their power stems mainly from technique, and even then it's not their best attribute by any stretch. These two guys are supreme technicians, quick counter punchers - boxers - they don't have what I would describe as 'natural raw power'. That tag should be affixed to a guy like Edison Miranda, not JMM or Mijares.

3 - Your post doesn't make much sense to me, but anyway, Jermain Taylor is far from a 'master boxer'. The guy has good skills certainly, above average power too, however his defence is lacking, and I wouldn't say him outboxing a predictable puncher like Pavlik justifys the tag of being a 'master boxer'. I wouldn't say he was outboxing Hopkins either, who could have easily won both fights, Taylor was just far too athletic. He's an athlete much more than he is a supreme technician.

****, you and i know what a master boxer is. A master boxer is the one who chooses to outbox or slug it out at ease giving wicked combinations at any given opportunity, then slip off unharmed. Jt did that to kelly at the early rounds of the first which kelly payed almost having a stain in his record.
Tell me how would calzaghe outbox kelly then? :huh

Joe doesn't have the same power as Jermain Taylor, so he's not going to have Pavlik on ***** street. And I don't love to 'hug joe's balls'. Infact, I'm not even really a fan of the guy anymore, but the fact is he's an extremely good fighter. His chin is good enough to withstand Pavlik, and while his punching technique is awful, his work rate, footwork, ring intelligence and extreme adaptibility means he would do an even better job than Taylor.

Because the fact is, Taylor lost twice. You talk about him outboxing Pavlik, but he got knocked out, and then decisioned in the second fight, where he looked like he just wanted to survive. Calzaghe is one of the most adaptible fighters in the game today. If he can adapt to guys like Hopkins and come from behind on the cards to take a decision in Hopkins hometown, then he sure as hell can adapt to predictable guys like Pavlik, he would take away his jab and straight right hand with ease, which are Pavlik's main weapons, and set a high-tempo and work even harder than Pavlik does himself. His footwork was on a masterclass level in the Hopkins fight aswell, Pavlik would hardly even be in range.

Calzaghe is a southpaw, has fast hands, good footwork, a good chin, too many angles and throws enough punches to make sure he's scoring....

He could win that fight with his right jab alone if he wished, but he likes to engage with fighters so would want the centre of the ring to be his

You do realise that Pavlik as good as he might become has only beaten Taylor of any real world class, with his Zuniga and Miranda fights being ones that are relevant

He has a weak jaw too. That made him lose the fight, and he has suspect stamina too. If he did'nt have china ware jaw, HOW THE **** WOULD HE SLEEP AT THE POST ALA TORRES-HOLT 2?

I would not use the term 'master boxer' at all, as it sounds like the type of term a *** would use.

But in terms of what I would define a 'master boxer' as if I was given the term. These are guys who are supreme technicians, in terms of ring intelligence, adaptability and technique. These are guys who can adapt to any style and win.

While I would not describe Calzaghe as a 'master boxer', in fact the term I am going to use instead is what I would call a technician. I would not even describe him as this (I would only call a few guys a very good technician, guys like Mayweather, Mijares, JMM, Calderon possibly, possibly Guzman aswell) as his punching technique is awful. But he is adaptable, and he is a very intelligent and experienced fighter.
