What do Pac and Oscar have to gain by fighting each other, other than money?

I've never (until now) held it against Oscar that he's a money-grubber. The kid grew up in a East-L.A. ghetto for cryin' out loud. But the idea of this fight is just blatant bull****. I draw the line when his desire to make a zillion dollars from a fight serves to make this great sport of ours look like a ****in' circus act or anything close. God forbid he ends up fighting pro wrestlers afterward cause there's an insta-20 mil. or so to be made by the grace of Vince Mcmann. Please, getchur **** together, Oscar. Yu wanna go out with glory then great-there's still a few welterweights who's asses you could surely kick. I've only missed a few of DLH's fights since the mid 90's. I know the guy can whip a respectable contender at either welterweight or Jr. mid. and retire the way loyal fans like mysef wanna see him do so.

I think Pac beating Oscar would enhance his legacy somewhat. Even though Oscar is old, he's the much bigger man, and is still a good fighter.

Sure he is past prime but barely top 10 WW? He's easily top 5 H2H at WW if you ask me. Hence why people are asking for Cotto-ODLH if Cotto wins, why would they ask Cotto to fight a non threat? Pac beating him would prove alot. The 1st point it would prove is how he can defy the odds, some people think this fight is ridiculous cos they think Pac has 0.00001% chance of winning, should he win it would be a big achievement. He would have beaten an ATG 2 weight classes above him and although past prime, still had enough in the tank to take the former p4p #1 into a SD.

Oscar would add a huge name to his resume, finally beating a great fighter in his prime...even if he was a tad bit undersized :)

Oh I dont get where all this circus act business is coming from. Did Shane Mosley not jump up 2 weight classes to whoop Oscar? What makes Pac so different? OK he started at 106, well he's 135 now and if he thinks he can beat Oscar, and Roach thinks he can beat Oscar, then maybe he should try. Its a big fight to be made thats winnable for both parties.

As others have said, it would be amazing if Pac, who started his career at 106, could move up and beat Oscar, who would probably come in on fight night around 160, at Welter.

It doesn't really do anything for Oscar though other than money. If he wins, then he beat a guy a lot smaller than him who he shouldn't have fought in the first place. If he loses, regardless of how good Pac is, it would be embarrassing for Oscar to lose to a guy that much smaller than him.

Oscar is top5 H2H based on hearsay alone. He loses to PBF in a close fight in what was his last hurrah and then wins an unconvincing wide UD against a VERY overmatched Steve Forbes. What would Clottey, Judah, Quintana, and Berto do with Steve Forbes? These are the 2nd tier WWs we're talking about and they would all beat him worse than Oscar did, even though Oscar made him move up all the way up to 150

On your mind it won't BECAUSE even if you're not saying it . . . for you Pac is GOD. :yep

For me chosing a money fight over the rightful fight is damaging. If this happens then Pac is no better than PBF.

That's right . . . you said it yourself . . . DLH is already damaged. So what does this fight makes?

:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl

I dont get your point, what makes you think that was Oscars last hurrah? You say his H2H ability is only hearsay, well isnt your assesment on what Judah, Clottey etc would do to Forbes the same thing? For all you know Forbes may beat them. Bottomline is, most here wouldnt see Oscar-Cotto a bad fight because they think either fighter stands a chance, therefore Oscar must still be held in high regard. If so, surely that would do alot for Pac's legacy in beating DLH. ODLH getting an SD with former p4p #1 in his last proper fight further solidifies that argument.

pac's rep won't be damaged but perhaps it would be hard for him once this fight takes place and after that, many fighters were never the same when they move up in weight. Pac has a naturally smaller frame.

DLH as you said is already damage, this fight would hurt his reputation more..

DLH is a fishnet *** for example..this is just based on what most people say

Now he's taking on small fighters like forbes, pac.. that would really hurt his reputation.

other than money i don't see anything else... this fight would only have meaning if pac wins when people expect him to lose. And thats a big if

No other reason than for money. The only good thing about this is that it will give boxing some mainstream coverage again.

It took you now to realize that Ms. Greedy is a money grubber? You sure are slow.
