...well, what im thinking of, is the fact that theyve both been brutally KO'd. Jones vs Johnson and hatton vs pacman-----

To me though theres is some main differences to why hatton should probably retire compared to jones' situation. Hatton has clearly proven he hasnt changed and continious to use hes head as hes defense. He just catches punch after punch walking in recklessly and was brutally Ko'd by pac. Hes lifestyle outside the ring puts him in much greater risk of serious injury. Let alone the pac fight, hes taken alot of punishment and those head shots could seriously take their toll.

I know-- he lost to two great fighters but its the manner of the loses as well as previous evidence. Hes style is certainly not one ud want a fighter to be fighting with as he ages,,, and goes into like hes 50th fight.

******edit, more news--ive just read an article where it claims roach thinks hatton should retire. He actually said he would hate someone else having parkinsons and that he continioud 4 or 5 fights longer when he was told to retire. I guess this is just some more weight for the argument, you never know the long term affects of continual head shots and its pretty scary to be honest.

I have to admit that was the first thing I thought of when I saw Hatton out ..Roy Jones vs Johnson ..

Considering his style it may be best to retire.

If he were to come back in a year I would have no problem with that ..

For now though stay away from the ring ..Start from scratch I say this because I strongly beleive we have not seen the last of Hatton ..

Lennox Lewis was stopped twice, nobody called for him to retire. Joe Louis, etc.

Without trying to compare the two sets of fighters to one another - You could use the example of Hearns Duran. Duran got KTFO'd and came back to win some big fights at higher weights.

That said Hatton is no Duran skills wise, but Manny won't be sticking around at 140 IMO - Hatton is just number 2 to Manny now.

Not only that, but the way they each crashed flat on their backs, arms at their sides, when they got KO'd.

He should retire because he can't be a top tier fighter...he's peaked already. He's made his lil money...he should just have 1 fight at home, and call it a day. ****...he lost to 2 ATG's and 2 of the best of his era. He overachieved anyway...no sense in finishing his career like Rocky just cause it started that way.

Ricky Hatton's name doesnt belong in the same sentence as Roy. Jones was about 2 light years better than Ricky could ever dream to be.

Was Roy "better" than Ricky? Yes. But unlike Ricky Roy refused to fight the best fighters available to him.

And for that I give Hatton a hell of a lot more credit than I do Glass Jaw handpicker Roy Jones.

If you wanna give a guy who failed in his two biggest fights more credit than one of the best fighters of the last 25 years than be my guest.
